Update 1.40.0 - Cast a line, hunt alone

The water was always there. Now it is worth your time: the more dangerous the place you cast, the better what bites — and somewhere in the war zones swims a ring that no monster will ever drop. Crops finally come in, the chat gets tabs, and guild summons now come out of the guild bank.

You must update your client to log in. Close the game and the launcher, then reopen the launcher and press PLAY. On Steam the update is automatic.

New

Fishing, by danger. The Fishing Rod and the Fishing Manual are now sold at the General Shop. Every body of water belongs to one of five danger levels — cities and farms, the hunting grounds, the contested zones, Middleland and Procella — and the deeper you go, the rarer and more valuable the catch. Seven more maps now hold fish. The best waters give Gold Carp, Red Sea Bream and Blue Sea Bream, which now sell for 6,000, 2,500 and 1,500 gold; Diamonds and Rubies; and +2 weapons that roll their stats like a monster drop. Each fish in the water now shows the colors of its species, and the catch chance meter now climbs with your skill instead of sitting at 1%. Fishing skill rises by 1 with each successful cast.

Two limits come with it: the plain Fish you sometimes get from a good cast now only comes from maps that hold fish, and on about one good cast in four. Aresden and Elvine now hold up to 15 fish at a time instead of 25.

Ring of Lone Wolf. A ring you can only fish up: it bites in Middleland and Procella, very rarely, and more often in Procella. Wear it and hunt alone. Every 120 seconds, if you are not in a party, no enemy player is on your screen and at least one is somewhere on the map, an arrow on the edge of your screen points toward the nearest one, a wolf howls, and you gain +10% movement speed for 30 seconds. Monsters don't count, and neither do players you can't see. The timer starts when you put the ring on, and two rings don't stack.

Farming you can harvest. Crops can now be harvested — with a Hoe, and only with a Hoe; a Pick Axe won't do it. Each crop shows its name, Ginseng can be sold to shops, and Farming skill rises by 1 with each use.

Every skill manual, for sale. The General Shop now sells the 13 skill manuals that couldn't be found anywhere, 100 gold each: Mining, Fishing, Farming, Manufacturing, Hand Attack, Archery, Short Sword, Long Sword, Fencing, Axe Attack, Shield, Hammer and Staff Attack.

/hold. The new /hold command makes your summoned creatures stand their ground: they stop following you, stop wandering and stop fighting until you release them with /hold off. Type /hold again to toggle.

Changed

  • Guild summons now cost a flat price per destination, from 5,000 to 40,000 gold, paid from the guild bank instead of the summoner's own gold. The summoner sees the price and the bank balance before confirming, and the whole guild is told what was spent.
  • Each level of the Summons guild upgrade now unlocks its own destinations. Level 8 halves the cost and doubles the daily limit.
  • Summons are limited to 50 per day (100 with Summons level 8), with a 10-second wait per summoner and 60 seconds per summoned player. Abaddon, Infernia A and B, the Maze, Procella and Druncnian City can no longer be summoned to, and a player who doesn't meet a map's level limits can't be summoned there.
  • Listing an item on the Auction House now costs 10,000 gold instead of 20,000, and you can choose how many items from a stack to list.
  • Every wand and staff now reaches full swing at 13 STR, the same as the basic Magic Wand. Before, the Dark Mage, Berserk, Kloness, Resurrection, Void, Charge and Fragile wands needed 39.
  • Merien's Spellblade now lets you swing faster than your weapon normally allows. The slower the weapon, the bigger the gain, up to 10%.
  • Damage absorption on monsters is now capped at 80%. Anti-Magic spawns that reached 90% — Abaddon, Fire Wyvern, Gargoyle, Demon and others — now take twice as much spell damage.
  • Monsters can no longer receive beneficial magic. Healing, protections, Invisibility and Berserk now only work on players, your own summons and your own side's guards. The spell still costs its mana.
  • Riposte no longer parries arrows: it only triggers against melee hits, as its tooltip says.

Improved

  • The chat log now has tabs — All, Chat, Trade and Combat. A dot marks a tab with something new, and Ctrl+Tab cycles through them.
  • The quest tracker can be moved by holding the middle mouse button over it, and resized with the mouse wheel.
  • An active hunting quest now makes the monster's spawn area blink on your mini-map.
  • Every tree turns see-through when you stand behind it, including narrow and short ones. Characters standing on grass, paths and flat rocks are drawn on top of them.
  • New icons for the Event Token, the fish, the rod and the crops, and all 16 rings have been redone in 3D.
  • The Cyclops now settles smoothly back into its stance after each swing.
  • Your Crush Chance updates on the character sheet as soon as you spend or reset stat points.
  • Barnaby's whole stall can be clicked, and he greets you once.
  • New characters start with their bag sorted by item type.

Fixed

  • Your character no longer keeps swinging at a monster that has already died.
  • Items looted from monsters can be listed on the Auction House again, and a withdrawn listing leaves My Listings right away.
  • The Disenchant tab now turns away bound items the moment you drop them in.
  • Text typed into dialog boxes no longer shows up doubled, Enter no longer sends it to public chat, and the text cursor sits where it belongs.
  • Rocks and cliffs that fade when you stand behind them no longer show dark squares.
  • You can no longer walk into the lava at the mouth of the dungeon bridges.
