ArmorSim 3.0.0 — the Plane mode becomes a proving ground
Plane mode
Weapons and targets
- Every material is unlocked: copper, depleted uranium, cast armour, Armox 500, mild steel, aluminium alloys, ceramics (SiC,
B₄C, Al₂O₃), cemented carbide, textolite, Kevlar, fibreglass, polyurethane, neoprene — plus new ones: high explosive, fuel,
propellant, concrete, brick and mortar.
- Shaped charges with their real shapes: RPG-7 (PG-7V and tandem PG-7VR), TOW-2A, 3BK9, PARS 3 LR, Javelin and more. The jet
is stronger and no longer falls apart too early.
- Explosive reactive armour now works properly: the cassette throws its plates into the threat instead of just shattering them.
- Fuel ignites on impact, burns beautifully and burns out. Burning fuel that lands on the crew sets the dummy alight and chars it.
- Ammunition: 152 and 125 mm HE-FRAG shells, propellant charges and racks — damage them and they cook off, chain reactions included.
- HE shells to fire: a new «HE SHELLS» category in «PROJECTILES» — 125 mm 3OF26 and 152 mm OF-540, detonating on impact.
- Aerial bombs: FAB-250, FAB-500, FAB-1500, FAB-3000, FAB-5000 and a notional 12-tonne bomb. Rotate with the wheel, click to
drop — it flies and detonates on contact with its own flash and blast wave.
- Tactical nuke (game imitation, three yields): a blinding flash, a fireball, a shock ring and a massive push that crumples
hulls and walls.
- Brick and concrete with real masonry, two houses among the presets and a preset gallery with thumbnails.
- New «CREW» section in the left panel: seated and standing dummies, Shift + wheel to change their size.
**Look and controls**
- Dark background, a 56-colour palette, mottled materials (concrete, brick, ceramics), glowing hot metal and sparks.
- Time speed-up really works now: up to ×256 — the limit of your GPU — and the status line honestly shows how many simulated
microseconds pass per second.
- Faster simulation; the hot-metal glow takes much less CPU time.
- Smooth zoom; zoom in to 256 pixels per cell and out to a quarter of a pixel.
- No more dark spots and seams at high zoom in any display mode.
- The empty flight of a bomb or shell to its target is skipped — the explosion starts right away.
Stability
- Fixed the «self-destruction»: scenes no longer suddenly burst into a cloud of fast particles. The cause was how the boundary
between two different materials was computed — energy appeared out of nothing there. Runaways in NERA cassettes with
polyurethane or neoprene and in composite spall liners are fixed too.
Super
- «Your own steel»: create your own materials. Simple mode — five clear sliders; expert mode — every parameter. Copy, edit
and delete them; each one is checked before firing and labelled as a player material.
- The material editor is no longer covered by sandbox panels. Everything is translated into all game languages.
RADARSIM Arcade
- Terrain clutter now looks like broad, soft green blotches instead of strokes.
- Three new background toggles: «Clutter map», «Radio shadow» and «MTI» (hides the static background; aircraft stay).
- Map and operator hints now switch with the game language.
