Thank you for playing Beetle Forest! We have just released the v1.4.0 update, which includes new features and gameplay improvements.
This update reduces the game's data size, revises beetle rarities and capture difficulty, and adds night-time presentation and title screen presentation.
■ Main Updates
1. Improvement: Reduced Game Data Size ・We removed data no longer used by the game and optimized images to resolutions suited to the game. ・The game's data size has been reduced from about 2.5 GB to about 1.0 GB (a reduction of about 59%).
2. Change: Beetle Rarity and Capture Difficulty ・Beetle rarity now ranges from 1 to 6, and rarities have been reassigned (previously 1 to 5). ・The beetle capture timing minigame now has six difficulty levels based on beetle rarity (we added the easiest level, and the previous hardest level is now the highest). The time limit and marker speed are unchanged.
3. Change: The Beetles You Search for in the Night Handover ・The combinations of beetles you give to Dad on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd night handovers have changed.
4. Addition: Night Monologues ・When a monster spots you, a line is now displayed at the bottom of the screen. ・When you get past the monster, a line of relief is displayed.
5. Addition: Title Screen Presentation ・The title logo now has a dedicated design for each language. ・The background art of the title screen has been renewed with new artwork.
6. Change: Language at Startup ・The display language at startup is now chosen automatically from the Steam game language, then the OS language (previously it always started in Japanese). ・If a supported language cannot be determined from either, the game will be in English. ・A language selected manually in-game applies only to that play session; the next time you start the game, it is chosen from the environment again.
7. Other Fixes ・We revised the description of the special bait based on feedback from an expert (the actual ingredients are bananas, sugar, and shochu). ・We made the trees where beetles can be found easier to recognize.
Thank you for your continued support of Beetle Forest!
