Make your own legend - a tour of the Modding Lab

Neon City Legends ships with the Modding Lab: a tool that turns sprite sheets - hand-drawn or AI-generated - into playable characters. OWLBOY, the character on the store page, was made with it.

There's a full walkthrough video on the store page - it's the second trailer:

The short version

  • Describe your character, and the Lab writes the image prompts for you - movement, combat, reactions and grapple sets.
  • Generate the sheets in the image tool of your choice and drop them in.
  • The Lab removes the background, slices the rows, and works out which animation is which.
  • Name it, save it - it's in your character list the next time you start a game.

You can also export a character as two files and share it, or import one somebody else made. Bring your own radio station while you're at it: drop MP3s in and they play in every car.
