It's out — and what this game actually is

It's out

NOW SHOWING launched on September 22nd. Thank you to everyone who wishlisted it.

It's a management sim about a single-screen cinema — but you don't build the building or pick the carpet. The only thing you decide is what plays, and when.

Seven days, five slots a day. Thirty-five screenings a week to fill. The film that sells out on Saturday night plays to empty seats on Tuesday morning. Family titles fill the afternoon but not the till. The big new release costs you a guarantee and a revenue share, and if you misjudge it, the loss stays on the books. And there is never quite enough of the decent middle-tier stuff you actually need.

None of the 99 films in the game are real. Every title, synopsis, genre and audience affinity was written from scratch. Given the subject, I didn't want to build it out of someone else's work.

Bugs and feedback

I make this alone, so there are certainly problems I haven't seen yet. If you find one, post in the discussions here or write to support@shibatacompany.com. Anything I can fix the same day, I will.

Honest impressions are more useful to me than kind ones.

And if you enjoyed it, a review would genuinely help. For a newly released game from one person, reviews decide almost single-handedly whether anyone else ever sees it.

What's next

  • A Mac build
  • A Japanese trailer
