URS1 v0.9.9b update

URS1 v0.9.9b update

v0.9.9b adds guidance for your first weekend and clearer explanations of pace, tyre wear, race results and cash changes. It also makes weekend maintenance fairer and fixes pit-entry stalls and incorrect race awards. This list covers the changes since public v0.9.9a.

Added

An optional first-weekend guide

  • New careers receive a guide offer on their first race-weekend preparation screen.
  • The guide covers checking both cars, reviewing setup, choosing a practice programme, sending cars out, qualifying, race preparation, live orders and reviewing the result.
  • Guidance follows the sessions you actually complete, including a mixture of live and simulated sessions. You retain control over setup, spending, strategy and session choices.
  • Close the guide for now, skip it or resume through Help while the first weekend remains available. Its progress and your choice are saved with the career.
  • Contextual Help includes the first-weekend guide and updated advice for maintenance, cash explanations, weather decisions and engineering review. Existing careers continue without being enrolled in a first-weekend tutorial.

A post-race engineering debrief

  • Open Engineering debrief from Results to review each entered player car.
  • Recorded factors, What worked and Consider next provide a short account of the result and practical suggestions for the next weekend.
  • The debrief uses recorded retirements, penalties, damage, tyre condition, component wear and pit-stop information where available. It distinguishes recorded observations from missing information.
  • Switch between the debrief and Recorded laps without leaving Results. Reading or closing the report keeps you at the same results stage.

Explanations beside the information you use

  • Live Car Status now includes WHAT AFFECTS PACE NOW and WHY TYRES ARE WEARING for the selected car.
  • Pace explanations identify relevant current damage, condition, tyre grip, setup, readiness, driver form, pace orders, traffic and fuel mass, with a useful next action.
  • Tyre explanations show set age and life, measured wear on consecutive timed laps using the same set, and current influences such as pace orders, setup, track surface, load, blistering and damage.
  • Garage, pit-lane, safety-car and retirement situations receive appropriate context. Dirty-air exposure is identified as time spent following another car, rather than a claimed number of seconds lost.
  • Budget and Ledger now include WHY CASH CHANGED, showing the largest actual bookings, income offsets and net change for the latest booked round of the current season. Forecasts remain separate from recorded payments.

Changed and improved

Weekend condition and paid maintenance

  • Rival cars retain measured engine and chassis condition, mileage, contact damage and missing wings between sessions. Starting another session no longer supplies rivals with automatically restored cars.
  • Rival repairs and replacements use the shared maintenance rules, actual costs, team budgets, allocation limits and applicable grid penalties. Necessary repairs and optional precautionary replacements follow the existing debt and affordability policies.
  • Saved rival condition remains attached to the team and car seat when a driver is substituted or a team changes its name.
  • Paid component service clears the relevant damage and provides the corresponding wear relief. It does not heal unrelated parts, and damage shared by several components is not repeatedly billed after it has been repaired.
  • Career component wear and measured weekend mileage remain distinct, preventing existing wear from being counted again as invented distance. Simulated sessions retain their component wear without fabricating live mileage.

Weather decisions and finance displays

  • You can explicitly pause while a live weather decision is open, using P, Space, the controller Menu button or the visible Pause control.
  • Pausing stops both the race and the decision countdown. The prompt shows the paused state and remaining time; resuming continues from that remaining time.
  • Accepting or cancelling a weather call while paused leaves the race paused. Unanswered calls still follow the normal timeout behaviour while the race is running.
  • Small booked payments remain visible in finance categories. Amounts use euros, thousands or millions as appropriate, so a small research charge is no longer displayed as €0.0M.
  • The Ledger identifies the actual latest booked round, pre-season bookings or no bookings yet, instead of implying that a round has already been settled.

Fixed and patched

Pit entry and race awards

  • Fixed pit-entry queues that could remain blocked after the car ahead had moved clear, retired or been recovered. This prevents prolonged entrance stalls and the fuel retirements they could cause.
  • Retired and disqualified cars no longer receive driver or team wins or driver podium tallies merely because their numerical classification position remains near the front.
  • Race-history winners, podium television payments and sponsor result progress now use eligible finishing status. Disqualification flags are respected even when a result's descriptive text is missing.
  • Race headlines and post-race driver form and morale no longer treat a retirement as a win, podium or points finish. A race without an eligible winner does not invent one.

Wear, repairs and reader controls

  • A mechanical retirement records an applicable fitted component as failed for either a player or rival car, once per session, so the repair requirement carries forward.
  • Repeated practice or qualifying completion cannot apply the same component wear again. Re-entering a session cannot repeat a rival's maintenance charge, and an older session capture cannot undo a later paid repair.
  • Physical component replacements have a minimum cost of €0.25M, preventing low-value replacements from rounding down to a free fitting.
  • Results actions now have visible keyboard and controller focus. Use Tab or left/right navigation, or the D-pad, then Enter/A to open the selected debrief, log, replay or pit-stop review.
  • Improved guide and reader focus handling across screen changes. Covered Results controls cannot advance the result or confirm a press answer while you are reading the engineering report.
  • New guide, explanation and debrief layouts support both UI 2.0 and Classic, with wrapping and sizing suited to smaller display layouts.

Development checks

  • Expanded automated coverage for guidance, explanations, mechanical carryover, maintenance, paused weather decisions, pit-entry recovery and eligible race awards. Race telemetry checks now use two fixed runs per circuit, count coverage by unique circuit and report coverage separately, retaining the existing driving-behaviour criteria.
  • Updated the Windows build and test tools to verify the editor build against its source inputs, stop on missing or incomplete test reports, preserve individual run evidence and check that existing career save files remain unchanged.

Saves and compatibility

  • Existing careers retain their recorded player condition, tyre sets and weekend progress. New rival mechanical tracking begins with the information available in the save; unknown historical mileage or damage is not reconstructed.
  • New saves retain guide progress and the additional weekend mechanical and maintenance state. Older careers are not forced into the guide.
  • Older race records remain readable. Debriefs use the detail those records contain and explicitly identify unavailable evidence; the update does not reconstruct missing past telemetry or rewrite historical award tallies.
