The free demo is out, and update 1.0.15 expands the main story
The free demo is now available
You can now try Curse of the Ancient Grimoire for free. The demo includes full character creation, exploration of Kordos, the first expeditions, and the beginning of the investigation into the cursed grimoire.
The demo features the opening part of the main story, with the same character-creation and difficulty options as the full game.
A new lead by the river
Update 1.0.15 expands the opening section of the main story with a new quest in Syllwa's investigation. The trail leads to an abandoned customs house by the river, with a journey beyond the city, dangerous exploration, combat, decisions, and new skill checks. This chapter creates a more natural bridge between the first clues and the later descent underground.
A smoother main story
We have also reviewed every part of the main storyline. Missing journeys and transitions have been added, scene order has been revised, and repeated or prematurely revealed information has been removed. The writing, choices, and illustrations should now match much more closely what the hero actually knows and sees at each moment.
More changes in version 1.0.15
- new travel scenes, hazards, enemies, and optional checks in both main and side quests;
- more accurate scene illustrations that no longer reveal locations, characters, or clues too early;
- consistent skill-check rewards and further improvements to both Czech and English text;
- companion combat abilities can now be used no more than once per round;
- the new Beastmaster's Talisman strengthens attacks made by animal companions;
- characters can increase their ability scores when reaching levels 12 and 16;
- random city events now trigger when returning to the town square, preventing them from interrupting conversations and quests;
- more compact character and enemy cards, including proper wrapping for long names;
- additional continuity, balance, and interface fixes.
We would love to hear your impressions and feedback. Download the demo for free directly from the store page; if you enjoy it, the full game is already available on Steam.
