1.05 Beta Test Update

Hello, dear players!

As promised in the previous announcement, the 1.05 update will first be made available through the beta branch. (You can access it by right-clicking the game → Properties → Game Versions & Betas.)

After we finish adding the features that could not yet be included and fix the remaining issues, the update will be incorporated into the main version.

The changes currently included in the beta version of 1.05 are as follows.

1. Overhaul of State Affairs and Ministry Screens

  • The Economy, State Affairs, and major ministry screens have been redesigned with a ledger-style UI.
  • When selecting a task target or policy, you can now review its current status, cost, effects, and execution requirements and handle it directly from the same screen.
  • Policy previews have been improved so you can compare the current value, post-implementation value, and the amount of change.
  • The State Affairs screen has been reorganized into “State Affairs Overview” and “Policies & Actions,” while personnel-related work now links to the Cabinet screen.
  • The Customs Administration has been moved to the Finance screen, allowing economic policies and export-related work to be reviewed together.
  • Guidance for switching internal tabs with the Shift key has been added, and the placement of text and action buttons has been improved for smaller screens and enlarged UI settings.

2. Improvements to Economy, Finance, and Ministry Management

  • While adjusting resource allocation for economic projects, you can now preview construction speed, remaining time, bottlenecks, and effects on other projects.
  • A feature has been added that suggests resource allocations based on bottlenecks and available resources.
  • Sliders have been added to project resource allocation, linked with numeric input, increase/decrease buttons, and automatic suggestions.
  • Access to Industrial Promotion and New Projects has been reorganized. After implementing or canceling an Industrial Promotion policy, the interface will return you to your previous project selection, draft allocation, and reading position.
  • Cancellation of unfinished projects has been added. Previously invested costs will not be refunded, and related allocations and ongoing agreements will also be cleared.
  • Selecting an Industrial Promotion policy will no longer automatically start the targeted factories.
  • Tax and interest-rate controls have been improved so that current values, proposed changes, and expected effects can be compared together. Sliders have also been added to tax adjustments.
  • Special budgets for defense, education, and welfare have been unified into a system where you directly set the amount within a 1–30 range.
  • Changes and expected effects for Saemaul regional allocation, education administration, and the assignment of research personnel and equipment can now be compared in advance.

3. Industrial Agreements with the Business Sector & Special Assignments for Key Lieutenants

  • Industrial agreements linked to company-contracted projects have been added to the business sector. You can select a project and financing conditions, review the target progress and deadline, and then conclude the agreement.
  • During interim agreement reports, you can choose to maintain the agreement, provide additional financing, or terminate it. Fulfillment and recovery results are determined by the actual progress of the project.
  • Administrative Inspection, Democratic Republican Party Coordination, and Negotiations with Japan have been added as special assignments within the power-relations system.
  • After delegating an assignment, you can determine support or verification policies during interim reports, and later assign the final achievement either as a shared Cabinet accomplishment or as an individual achievement.
  • The progress and results of these assignments are linked to character trust, influence, power tensions, administrative leakage, party cohesion, relations with Japan, and other factors.

4. Expansion of Historical, Diplomatic, and Nuclear Content

  • The preparations leading up to May 16 have been expanded with communication-network checks, command verification, and responses to the arrest of Kim Deok-seung.
  • Relations with Chang Do-young have been expanded so that they continue into confirmation of command authority within the Supreme Council, power-sharing or resignation, and follow-up personnel negotiations.
  • New diplomatic issues have been added involving responses to the Sino-Soviet split, the 1968 protests, the Sino-Soviet border conflict, and the Sino-Vietnamese War, along with follow-up developments.
  • After the 1971 change in Chinese representation, new diplomatic choices have been added that take relations with Taiwan, the United States, and Japan into account.
  • International monetary realignment is now connected to contract reviews, re-quotations, decisions to maintain existing contracts, and the effects on equipment procurement.
  • Emergency crude-oil purchases now follow a prepayment → transport waiting → arrival process, with purchase and delivery status available for review.
  • After acquiring nuclear weapons, force structure, deterrence policy, foreign negotiations, maintenance costs, and sanctions have all been expanded. Wartime use now requires an authorization process and leads to combat damage as well as diplomatic consequences.

5. Weekly Reports & State Affairs Handbook

  • Weekly reports now include the progress and recent results of economic projects, research, demonstration projects, local projects, negotiations, and legislation.
  • Tasks requiring attention due to bottlenecks or pending instructions are shown first, and you can move directly to the relevant task from the report.
  • A State Affairs Handbook (Encyclopedia) has been added, allowing you to look up character introductions, political, economic, social, and diplomatic terminology, historical background, and gameplay guides.
  • The right-side reference tab has been reorganized to provide access to handbook categories and route/branch guidance.

6. Starting Scenarios & Historical Record Improvements

  • The 1961, 1963, and 1971 starting scenarios now inherit laws, projects, policies, and personnel history from earlier periods more faithfully.
  • Supreme Council legislation in the 1963 and 1971 scenarios has been expanded, along with information on Korea-Japan normalization, troop deployment, the Saemaul Movement, economic plans, and incumbents in the 1971 scenario.
  • Fixed an issue where completed State Affairs tasks could display their progress as 0 again, along with certain starting-fund and save-resume state issues.
  • Fixed conditions that could cause the original and alternate Jeon Tae-il events to occur together.
  • Portions of the military-government historical text have been revised, and the English, Japanese, and Chinese translations have been updated.

Improvements to a scenario’s historical background are applied when starting a new game with that scenario.

7. Defense & War Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where tank production could remain at 0 under certain automatic military-supply allocation settings.
  • Equipment owned and equipment shortages required for armored and mobile formations are now displayed more clearly.
  • Fixed cases where withdrawal orders could change into hold-position orders after capturing an objective, or where withdrawal would fail to proceed because no active contact front existed.
  • Improved withdrawal guidance and routes back toward the supply rear from occupied regions such as Manchuria.

8. Graphics, Quality-of-Life, and Bug Fixes

  • Added industrial illustrations to economic projects and improved the metallic graphics used for common buttons, sliders, and reference tabs.
  • Fixed an issue where facilities and roads could become misaligned when zooming or moving the map.
  • Improved movable task windows and position restoration, and fixed an issue where moving a window could block map input outside the window.
  • Fixed a bug where pressing keys such as W, A, S, or D while typing into search fields could open other windows instead of entering text.
  • Fixed numerous cases where character names, values, units, and buttons overlapped or were cut off in long English, Japanese, and Chinese translations or with enlarged text.
  • Fixed an issue where dollar-based numbers could remain in monthly change values after switching the display to Korean won.
  • Fixed an issue where costs could still be spent on the same decision even after the oil-conservation value had reached its maximum.
  • Added retry handling when sending Steam achievements fails. I have also fixed as many issues as possible related to achievements failing to unlock.
  • Fixed an issue where game graphics continued unnecessary calculations, using roughly 20% more CPU resources than actually required.
  • Added a shortcut to the official Discord server on the title screen.

This beta test will probably run for around 3–5 days before being incorporated into the main update.

I know that is a relatively short beta period, but my development style tends to favor fixing problems immediately and releasing updates as quickly as possible, so I hope you can understand...!

Ideally, I would like to finish everything thoroughly before updating, like many other games do, but I have a hard time resisting the urge to show everyone, “Look how much I changed!” as soon as possible.

If you encounter any errors or bugs while playing the beta, please feel free to report them in the comments, on the forums, or on the official Discord server! I will check them and update the game with fixes as quickly as possible.

This ended up being a long post.

I’ll be back in the next patch notes. Have a great day, everyone!
