Update 1.2 — The City

Every market in Grey Market has real buyers. Flood one and you burn through them. Leave it alone and they come back.

You just couldn't see it happening. You had to read it in numbers.

Now you watch it.

The map is a city

  • Every market is a building: the Docks, Uptown, the Airport, the Capital, the Exchange, an island Offshore, the Syndicate's tower in the middle.
  • Your lab is on the map too. Smoke means it's running. Click it to RUN HOT.
  • Markets you don't hold yet are blueprints. Take them and they get built.
  • Switch to NIGHT and the windows light up.

The streets move

  • Vans leave your lab and drive to wherever you're selling.
  • Busy routes are packed. Quiet ones trickle.
  • A building's lit windows show how hard that market is working.

Watch a market flood

  • Send too much and it turns amber and gets marked FLOODED.
  • The buyer tally drains as you burn through them.
  • Set it to HOLD and watch them come back.

See rivals take your ground

  • A rival crew plants a flag on your building and bleeds red across it.
  • The stain grows as their cut grows.
  • Lose it and it stays theirs on the map until you buy it back.

Feel the heat

  • The streets go red as heat climbs.
  • Past halfway, patrol cars start driving the ring road.
  • More of them, moving faster, the hotter you run.

Busts hit

Getting caught used to be one line in the log. Now it takes the whole screen.

Faces, icons and sound

  • Every specialist has a mugshot. Every product grade has its own brick.
  • Every skill and upgrade has an icon in a ring. The ring fills as it levels.
  • The MARKETS table shows each market's building.
  • Buying, hiring, taking a job and good news all make a sound now. They were always meant to.

Fixed

  • The operation panel could overlap itself at some window sizes, which made the SOURCE / LAB / STOCKPILE / STREET numbers unreadable. Fixed at every size.
  • On the MARKETS tab, the ROLE buttons dropped onto their own line at the default window size. Fixed.

Cloud saves

Your save now backs up to Steam Cloud. New PC or a fresh Windows install? Your operation comes with you.

About the Sept 8 update

That update went out with no game files in it, so the game stopped launching. My mistake. It's fixed: restart Steam, or right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity. Saves were never touched. Uploads now go through a check that refuses an empty build, so it can't happen again. Sorry for the lost time.
