Update 0.1.9 - New player animation, collision and QOL

This update gives the player a more expressive run, opens new possibilities for vertical factories, and brings more life to the world. We also polished several details to make the early game clearer, production fairer, and sound more reliable.

Build upward

  • The Discharge Tower lets vertical elevators cross conveyor lines without breaking their horizontal flow. Materials moving through the tower pass behind the Horizontal Conveyor, while everything already riding the belt keeps moving normally.
  • To place a tower, fit it around a Horizontal Conveyor. It unlocks through the Vertical movement research, can be flipped to suit your build, and now has a full explanation in the Manual.

A world with more life

  • We thoroughly reworked the player's running animation. Longer strides, stronger body movement, and arms that follow the rhythm of the legs make running feel more natural, energetic, and easy to read. https://i.imgur.com/Bpki3F1.gif
  • Every new world now greets you with a different mix of hills on the horizon. That landscape belongs to the save, so it will still be there whenever you return to your factory.
  • Caves and machines now cast subtle shadows that help them feel grounded in the world. The effect is included with High detail and can also be enabled when customizing the graphics. https://i.imgur.com/ttJCby2.png
  • We made a couple of smaller visual touch-ups too: the Small Liquid Filter finally has artwork of its own, and the Forge research once again shows the correct icon.

A smoother start

  • The first time you open the game, you can now choose your language right away from the ten available options. The game remembers your choice for future sessions.
  • Working with Water is now more rewarding. Its value carries through recipes and transformations, raising Clay to $0.16, Brick to $0.45, and Germinated seed to $0.22. Water and Steam still cannot be sold directly.
  • The first Filter tip is simpler now: choose Dirt or Sand to move forward in the tutorial.
  • If the browser blocks a sound at startup, the game tries to recover it after your next click or key press instead of leaving actions and machines silent.
