v1.43: Twelve Updates in One Day

So, I got a little carried away today haha. Twelve updates went out, v1.32 all the way to v1.43, and Steam should already have the latest one for you. Most of it came from playing on my Steam Deck and writing down everything that bugged me. The HUD, the announcements, how your pilot flies, the weapon sounds. Here's the whole day in one post.

What changed

  • A rebuilt HUD and menus. Rounded charcoal plates with brass accents, and Hull is just called Health now.
  • Announcements got out of your way. No more big text in the middle of the screen. Threats slam in under the wave timer with their own painted emblem, and rewards show up as banners in the corner.
  • Survey Beacons. From wave 2 a drill rig lands somewhere in the belt. Hold its ring for about 6 seconds while the drill noise pulls enemies in on you, then haul the rich ore home.
  • Signal Heat. The further you fly from the station, the richer the rocks and the more elites show up.
  • The Radiation Belt has a real radiation vent that erupts and throws out salvage, and Ion Storms strike like lightning now.
  • All nine spacers fly on real flight animation. Upright with guns up when you stop, leaning into a glide when you move, flat out like a jet when you dash.
  • All 28 weapons fire with recorded gunshots and machinery instead of the old synthetic sounds.
  • You can't be hurt while your ultimate plays out, plus one second after.
  • Mortars fire less often and have a clean landing marker, and a red arc shows which side a hit came from.
  • Your first guns are cheaper. 40% off at the first dock and less after that, so a good first wave buys a second gun right away.
  • A bigger belt, a sunken industrial plant around the edges, and Crystal Fields that actually look like crystal.
  • Clearing a wave slows time and bursts every enemy left, and your jetpack burns hot with contrails behind you.

Every change is in the full changelog.

If you play it let me know what you think, good or bad. Thank you all for playing.
