v1.31: The Look and Feel Update

So, this one is a big one for me. After launch I kept playing on my Steam Deck and the game just didn't look or feel the way I had it in my head, so I spent the last few days reworking a lot of it. The camera actually follows you now; before, if you flew far enough south you could fly right off the screen haha. The lighting is colder and deeper instead of that brown look, enemy shots are red tracers now so you can tell them apart from yours, and kills throw the wreck in the direction you shot it. I think it's the best the game has looked so far, but I'm not done with it.

What changed

  • The camera follows your astronaut everywhere and leans ahead of where you are flying.
  • You bank into turns, and dashing kicks the camera outward.
  • New cold starlight, a deeper navy and violet nebula, finer stars and haze on distant rocks.
  • Enemy fire is thin red-orange tracers. Your weapons fire white-hot blue, gold and lime.
  • Kills throw the wreck along the line of your shot.
  • Enemies are repainted as dark armor with running lights and an amber engine glow.
  • Hits spark where they actually land, and bigger guns hit visibly harder.
  • Your heal and damage numbers float off to the side instead of on top of your ship.
  • Smoother frame times in big fights, and a smaller download.

If you play it let me know what you think, good or bad. Thank you all for playing.
