Hotfix 1.5.0.2 is live. This update tidies up: every item now knows what it is, and nothing you still need ends up at the vendor, in the Ember Crucible or on the bonfire by accident. On top of that come plenty of fixes for offline time, the night watch and the Ashfall, three quality-of-life wishes from the community and a plaque on the pier.
Important things stay important
It started with a report from Rody on Discord: Mirror Lake bait and the Brass Key counted as vendor trash, and got sold. That must not happen again. So instead of patching just those two items, we rebuilt the foundation.
- Every item now has a fixed kind: bait, key, tool, ingredient, junk and so on. Auto-sell, the Ember Crucible, the bonfire and unmaking all ask the same rule. Anything that can't be placed clearly counts as valuable, never as junk.
- “Trash first” in the bazaar now only puts real vendor trash up front, then the remaining junk, then everything else.
- The bonfire no longer burns upgrade or recipe materials. Auto-burn in “Surplus” mode leaves materials you need for upgrades or recipes alone. You can still burn them by hand, and anything you explicitly set to “Burn” under “My choice” keeps burning.
- The Ember Crucible spares shards and collection needs. Dungeon shards never melt. Whatever the Loot Book, the Silent Chamber or the museum still needs stays put. “Free to melt” shows exactly the amount that may really go into the crucible.
- Tab order: bank, bazaar and codex sort by an item's kind instead of its name. The Embercore Rod no longer sits with the ores, the logbook pages no longer with the wood. Bait, rods and Mirror Lake keys get the codex tab “Fishing”, other keys sit under “Tools”, shards and marks under “Currency”, chests under “Crates”.
What survives the Ashfall
- Your fishing gear stays. Fishing rods, bait and Mirror Lake keys survive the Ashfall, from your bag, mailbox and bank. The Ashfall window shows under “You keep” how many pieces that is.
- Your language stays. If you play in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese or Japanese, you keep playing in that language after the Ashfall instead of landing back on the default language.
- Your Founder claim stays. If you started within the first 30 days, you keep your claim to the Founder's gift and your progress towards it, even after an Ashfall.
Offline and night watch
If you close the game in the evening, you should get exactly what you earned by morning: not less, and not twice.
- The Ember Hunt pays offline. The Ember Hunt now brings in the gold from its prey overnight too.
- Gathering speed with all bonuses. Worldroot Shard, Mistthread, profession rank and over-levels now speed up gathering while you are away too. Offline, you now gather as fast as in the running game.
- Double yield applies offline too. Worldroot, familiarity, Ember Paths, companions and sets now double your yield while you are away as well. The offline window shows the factor for each gathering slot.
- The trail counts during the night watch. Night kills against the foe on your trail now count towards the guaranteed unique item. The night watch report shows your progress.
- Honest night watch numbers. The offline window used to show a flat share that was too high. Now it says how much gold and experience the night watch really brought and how that comes about.
- Offline earnings only once. A quick restart right after returning no longer pays out the same night again.
- The standing order keeps running. When you return, the expedition round already under way continues instead of starting over. No time is lost any more.
At the Mirror Lake
- Restocked bait works. If you buy or find new bait after the last one ran out, you fish with it right away.
- The lake keeps fishing while minimized (thanks, Holyjester). If the lake page is open and the window is minimized, the auto rod now makes up the time, even without a set line out. It does so at the set line's rate, just like in the background.
- A plaque on the pier (thank you, Madazenus). A plaque beneath the lantern on the Mirror Lake pier now remembers Madazenus, the first bearer of the Mirror Rod. The World Chronicle lists him under “Sides” as well.
Combat and numbers
- The Leviathan Steak works. Its +8% damage now really applies in combat, to hits and abilities alike, exactly as shown in your combat stats. The combat stats now also include discipline draughts.
- Enemy attack shown correctly. The enemy card now includes the damage increase from the Ashfall and shows the same attack the enemy hits with. Combat itself doesn't change, only the display is now right.
- Titans and the Core of the Hoard. The Ember Core “Core of the Hoard” now also raises the gold of the weekly titans, on the card and in the payout.
- The Spark of Departure now states the +25% it really gives.
- The recipe card fully explains the crafting time: gear, workshop set, “Burning bright” and quick smelt, each on time and experience.
Quality of life from your wishes
- Ember Automation tells you what it is waiting for (thanks, Holyjester). Below the automation button you now see live why it fires or not: ember (for example 18 / 25 for Ember Splitter), cooldown, level, wrong weapon or “the foe falls to your hit”. The automation gets its chance after every hit the foe survives. If you knock everything down in one hit, you now see why it stays quiet.
- Supply plan for auto-heal (thanks, Holyjester). The new “Order” button in the supplies bar shows every food and health draught with its heal per piece. You can block any kind, set an order with numbers (lowest number first) and give each kind its own threshold, such as “health draught only below 20%”. Without entries everything stays as before.
- Discord and Instagram in the game. In the settings and the main menu, two buttons lead to our Discord and to Instagram. They open in your browser.
More fixes
- Tower rest: a practice climb no longer overwrites your rated rest in the Ash Tower.
- Fate of the day: only one choice can be made, even while the die is rolling.
- Opening: skipping now also silences the voice, and a click in the first seconds no longer makes the lines run twice as fast.
- Silent Chamber: an interrupted anatomy study keeps the parts already entered, and the remaining time gets shorter accordingly.
- Vow-Bond: buying a Vow-Bond no longer lowers vow slots after the Ash Turning.
- Ohm'Kessa: the abyssal Ohm'Kessa now drops his blueprint the way it was meant to.
Thank you
Thanks to Holyjester for the Ember Automation, the minimized Mirror Lake and the supply plan, to Rody for the report that set off the whole item-kind system, and to Madazenus for seven hours on the pier. Isorn, Faith and countzero666: your latest reports and wishes are noted and on the list for the next patches. ❤️
Your saves are kept, and Steam downloads the update automatically as usual. See you at the fire. 🔥
