Grim Reach Leaves Early Access — What Does That Mean for You?
If you already own the game, this is simply another update. It costs you nothing, your existing save will load exactly as it did yesterday, and you will keep everything you have earned.
If you have been waiting for the 1.0 release before buying, here is what awaits you:
- 20 skills, each with a complete progression path to level 99
- Ten zones, eight dungeons, and the endless Paragon Spire, featuring more than 100 creatures
- 28 named Elite Champions that appear on their own timers, each guarding a unique reward
- Seven weekday Blessings that change how the entire Reach behaves
- New Haven, your own settlement, with 15 buildings, three ranks each, and a permanent bonus for every upgrade
- 109 quests, including all 21 chapters of the Ashen Chronicle
- Loot with randomly rolled suffixes, plus 12 additional rune enchantments
- Up to 11 hours of offline progress, an action queue, three equipment loadouts, and five save slots
- Support for seven languages
- No microtransactions, no advertisements, and no energy bars. One purchase. That’s it.
What Changed in This Update
- Item tooltips for equipment with only one stat group, including certain wands and staves, could display stat labels with blank values. This has been fixed.
- Large material stockpiles on skill action cards could be cut off at the edge of the display. They now use the same compact formatting as the values beside them.
- The combat log now tells the full story. Bleed and poison damage is logged, shock stuns and dodges are identified instead of appearing as generic misses, and melee lifesteal now displays the amount healed.
- Two achievements required a total level that was impossible to reach. Their requirements have been adjusted to attainable values, making full completion possible again.
- Music will no longer begin muted after a fresh installation.
- New Haven can now be reached from the sidebar without scrolling, and the feature tour correctly directs you there instead of leaving you on a dimmed screen.
- The game window now has a minimum size, ensuring that the top bar and loadout buttons remain usable.
- The opening hour and endgame have received a complete polish pass across all seven supported languages.
- And alot more!
As always, your existing saves are fully compatible. Always will be, no wipes.
Thank You
Grim Reach entered Early Access in July with one promise: your save would survive every update, and I would listen to your feedback while building the game around it.
A great deal of what is now in the game exists because someone took the time to post about it. The Fight button on monster cards, equipment loadouts, and fixes for Slayer tasks that once directed you towards unreachable monsters all came from player reports.
One of you reached 93 hours of playtime and continued sending me detailed lists. You know who you are.
I am not disappearing. This is only the beginning.
Grim Reach is now a complete and fully functional game, but it will continue to grow and evolve. I will keep reading the suggestions you submit through the in-game feedback tool and post in these forums. I will also continue improving and polishing the existing game while implementing new content and features.
I hope you have fun in the Reach.
