Echoes of Mora VR is OUT NOW! 🌊
Hey everyone! 👋
Echoes of Mora VR is OUT!
After over three years of development, we still can't quite believe we're writing that sentence 🥹
🛒 Two versions for sale, so please pick the right one
Echoes of Mora VR: the PC VR version (which also includes an optional PC flatscreen mode you can switch to at any time)
Open this on SifterEchoes of Mora: the PC version, playable with mouse and keyboard or controller (no VR headset needed)
Open this on SifterIf you don't own a headset, please buy the PC version. And if you want to play in VR, please buy the VR version!
The VR version costs a little more than the PC one, because it contains both modes instead of one.
🧭 What to expect
Echoes of Mora VR is a slow-paced story game, around 2-3 hours long. You swim with your own arms through a flooded Italian village, open portals into the days before the water came, and help Mora find out what happened to her brother.
What you'll find:
- One dense, hand-built village to explore at your own pace
- Natural arm-based swimming, with optional joystick locomotion
- A full PC mode you can switch to at any time from the in-game menu
- Gentle puzzles throughout the world
- Echoes: portals into the past that show the village before the flood
- Traces: optional audio scenes scattered around the village that tell you more about the people who lived here
- Dialogue choices with Mora that change her answers and the order some scenes play out in
- Two endings, depending on one final choice
- Full English voice acting, with text in 11 languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Turkish, Ukrainian, Simplified Chinese and Japanese
What you won't find:
- No combat, no enemies, no survival or crafting, no fail states
- No time pressure, no jump scares
- No difficult puzzles, so you won’t get stuck for long
- One handcrafted place rather than a large open world
- No endless content, so when the story ends, it ends
That's the game. The demo is free and still up, and we'll update it in the coming days to match the final version. If you've already played it: that was the opening of the world and the first five of twenty Echoes.
👥 Who made this
Echoes of Mora was made by three people.
We started over three years ago as master's students. The game changed shape more than once in that time; a publisher deal came and went, and we finished the last stretch while writing our master's theses. A lot of people helped us get here, and we're grateful to every one of them, but the core team was always the three of us.
We mention it because Echoes of Mora VR might look like it came from a bigger studio than it did. We take that as a compliment. But to be clear: this is our first commercial game and our first VR game, built by three students who learned most of it on the way.
🐟 If something breaks
Three people can only test so many hardware combinations. If you hit a bug, a crash, or a line of text doing something strange, please tell us. Our Discord is the fastest way, or the discussions right here on Steam. We read everything, and we'll keep patching.
💜 And lastly... Thank you!
To everyone who played the demo, wishlisted, sent us a message, or just stuck around through all of this time: thank you. Genuinely. We'll see you underwater.
Warm wishes, Meike, Daria & Namin — the Selkies 🦭
