The Walking Trade 2 - Multiplayer, Open-World and more...

Since The Walking Trade’s launch in March, the biggest two requests I get at least once a day is “add multiplayer pls” and “add Open World scavenging”. Neither of which are really possible to retroactively add into the first game, however, we’ve been cooking…

Yes, ‘we’. I am no longer working solo for this one. I’ve teamed up with good friend OvertimeDev and trusty artist Samsmie to join me on THE WALKING TRADE 2:

The Walking Trade 2 features both co-op multiplayer (up to 8 players) and open world scavenging. After your old shop falls to a horrific Hellraid, you must rebuild elsewhere, but this time, you’re not alone. One player can run the checkout, another guards the perimeter whilst everyone else scours the wasteland for sellable goods and new upgrades!

We’ve learned a tonne of lessons from the first game’s design and on a technical level. As much as I try to fix some of the issues facing the first game (and will continue), some are caused by core decisions made so early in the development that they are difficult to be fully unpicked at this point. This fresh slate allows The Walking Trade 2 to be so much more ambitious.

The world is a lot bigger than the tiny car park of the first game so adding menacing vehicles for you, your staff and customers was a no brainer. A new huge pillar of progression will come from finding, fixing and upgrading your vehicular arsenal. The better your vehicle, the further you can travel, the higher tier and volume of stock you can return with. We’re truly excited for this world to be experienced and explored.

We’re so happy to finally be able to announce The Walking Trade 2 after some quiet months of designing this in the dark. I’m sure you guys have lots of questions and I’m happy to answer as much as I can (without giving away too much).

Much love, Adam & Team ❤️
