v.1.7.8 - Three new presets!

IKANDY 1.7.8: three new 3D Worlds, and Halloween comes to Glimmerwood

Three new scenes built to show what IKANDY can do, plus the multi monitor fixes from our testers.

New in 3D Worlds

  • Glimmerwood: follow a path of light through an iridescent forest of mushrooms, dragonflies and glowing reeds. Each part of the forest introduces itself once when you start the scene. Turn on Halloween for smiling pumpkins, wisps, webs and a harvest moon (Pro).
  • Prism Rail: ride a glass track through a neon spectrum toward a ringed planet. Choose Ride or Watch (Pro).
  • Fanout EQ: your music as 79 coloured bands of traces, beads and peak rings on a reflective circuit board. Find it under EQ, next to Block Bars.
  • All three answer the DJ console like every other scene, God Rays included.
  • Comfort mode switches Prism Rail and Glimmerwood to the still Watch view, and brings back your choice when you turn Comfort off.
  • PILOT does not pick these worlds on its own: start them from the Library, or press Take me to 3D Worlds on the What's New page.
  • 3D scenes that use reflected room lighting now get it in the installed app too, as they were designed.

Multi monitor

  • Imported shaders keep their framing on a wallpaper that spans several screens, and on spans wider than 4K, instead of appearing zoomed in or cropped. Thanks to our tester for the ruler tests that found it.

Known limits

  • Some scenes, the new Ride views included, can be bright and fast. Comfort mode calms them.
  • The new scenes were tested on NVIDIA graphics cards without HDR. AMD, Intel and HDR were not tested for them.
  • On some multi monitor setups, span can still leave a thin strip of desktop along the bottom edge. We are working on it.
  • With a controller connected and background controls off, IKANDY can say "Controller disconnected" when another app is in front. The controller works again when you return to IKANDY. A fix is coming.
