v1.7.0

Quote: "No, Colonel Sanders, you're wrong. Mama's right. Alligators are ornery 'cause they got all them teeth and no toothbrush." Bobby Boucher (Adam Sandler)

Every scene now moves with your music, takes its color from the bass, mids and treble, and keeps one setting across every scene. Comfort mode is there for anyone who wants fast flashing held back.

What's new

  • One setting for every scene. Every knob on the console, God Rays and LUT included, is set once and stays as you move between scenes.
  • Presets start fresh. Your old presets were tuned for IKANDY as it was, so they have been wiped. A preset now saves every knob and opens with its scene, and a switch beside Presets turns them off without losing them.
  • Color from the music. Bass warms the picture, Mid shifts its colors like oil on water and Treble lights the edges, on every scene. The color knobs are Pro; Free plays every scene at their gentle default.
  • Motion on the hit. Swell lands on each main hit with a slow Drift between hits, on every plan. Many scenes now light up on the main hits instead of flickering with every note, so they flash far less at the default settings.
  • Comfort mode. In Setup, on the COMFORT page: it holds back fast flashing and turns Motion moves off. It turns on by itself when Windows is set to reduce animation.
  • A faster start. IKANDY opens about two seconds after you accept the license. The first time this version starts on your PC, Now Playing, lyrics, logos and pets can take up to a minute and a half to appear; after that they are there at once.
  • A better PILOT. It no longer plays games or 3D worlds, its back arrow returns to what was shown before, and the next arrow and R no longer bring back something you saw a few minutes ago.
  • Setup, tidied. Settings is now Setup, with picture options together on PICTURE and comfort options on COMFORT. The KEYS page marks the keys that belong to Pro and Studio.
  • Fixes. Built-in scenes no longer look darker on an HDR display, the Live Wallpaper no longer stutters when it switches to a WarpField item, and the visuals no longer drop out for a moment when Smart Auto switches apps.

Good to know

  • MilkDrop and WarpField presets play as their authors made them, and some flash or move fast. A few IKANDY scenes can still flash at the default settings. Comfort mode holds them back.
  • Comfort mode dims blocks of the picture where it holds a flash back, and it lowers the frame rate. It is off unless you turn it on or Windows is set to reduce animation.
  • On some MilkDrop presets with heavy trails, turning Particles up floods the picture with color. Particles is off unless you turn it up, and a fix follows.
  • This release was tested on NVIDIA graphics cards only.

The full notes are in the What's New page when you start IKANDY.
