[Blosharper] v1.2.1 Update: New Voices and A New Look

Blosharper v1.2.1 Update

Hello, Sharpers! The v1.2.1 update gives the cast new short voices and fixes issues found since v1.2. This update comes first below, followed by the v1.2 update notes as they were.

v1.2.1 Update

  • New short voices: every short voice has been replaced — the cast's quick exclamations and interjections, down to the groan a boss lets out as it falls. Each sound now comes in several versions, picked as you play.
  • The All-in Bet paid out on banned-card hands: while facing a boss that bans cards with All-in active, playing a hand made only of banned cards added the All-in Bet to your winnings and left All-in in place, so it could repeat every hand. Such a hand now counts as a failed All-in.
  • Long skill names breaking or shrinking: on the Skill Awakening cards, long names were split mid-word in Korean and spilled outside the card in Russian; names now wrap between words, and only the cards that need it grow wider. Skill tooltips also no longer shrink long Russian names into smaller text — they use the same size as other languages and wrap between words, and the marker beside the name drops to the next line when space runs out.
  • The skip button dimmed during tutorial guidance: while the tutorial pointed you to a button, the Tutorial (skip) button in the top-left was dimmed beneath the overlay. It now stays clearly visible throughout.
  • Skill Pouch buttons losing their shape on hover: hovering over Expand Bag or Fuse in the Skill Pouch made their raised edge and shadow disappear. They now keep their shape and simply brighten a little, like other buttons.
  • Portrait motion that kept running after a window closed: closing a window such as the Doors of Reward before its portrait finished loading could leave the portrait's motion running out of sight, putting needless load on your computer. Fixed.
  • The title demo starting while minimized: with the game minimized on the title screen, the automatic demo could still start after a while and run with no one watching. The demo no longer starts while the window is minimized, and the countdown starts over when you return.

Blosharper v1.2 Update

Hello, Sharpers! With today's update, Blosharper steps up to v1.2. Thanks to all of you who helped us temper v1.1, this update begins with the frame around the screens — windows and buttons now share one frame, and the Doors of Reward that open after you beat a boss take a new shape as well.

A notice for Mac players: starting with this update, the Mac version runs on Apple Silicon Macs only. Macs with Intel processors are no longer supported, and the game will no longer run on them. Thank you for your understanding.

A New Look

  • The screens wear a new frame: windows, buttons, panels, tabs and input fields used to take a different shape from one screen to the next; they now share a single style of frame. The arcade-style trim that already framed the table now carries through to the menus and windows, keeping the look consistent wherever you go. A selected tab now joins the panel beneath it as one surface, so tabs and buttons are easy to tell apart at a glance.
  • The table gets felt and metal: the table is now covered in felt — deep green in ordinary play, and a dark reddish brown while you face a boss. The panels and buttons along the bottom, along with the Round and Skills buttons at either end of the top bar, now wear a metal finish lit from the upper left.

Doors of Reward

  • The Doors of Reward stand as three cards: the doors that open when you beat a boss now stand side by side as three cards, each carrying the face of whoever hands over that reward — the opponent you just beat now appears on the Sleight of Hand door rather than above the doors.
  • Take the same Specialist again and again: Specialists no longer have levels, so you can take the same one from the door as many times as you like, and each time it works exactly as it did the first time — no Specialist maxes out and locks itself away anymore.
  • Switch a single pick with one press: when you can pick only one door, pressing another door now moves your pick straight to it — no need to press the first door again to let it go. A picked door is now outlined in green instead of gold, and a door under the mouse only brightens a little, so you can tell at a glance which door you have picked. Keyboard and controller navigation still highlights doors with a gold outline, while clicking doors with the mouse no longer brings up that outline.

Balance

  • The Animal/Ribbon Deck's late multiplier, trimmed: the multiplier this deck builds up as a run goes deeper now climbs a little less steeply. It is a tuning pass to keep the three strategy decks evenly matched.

Bug Fixes & Stability

  • The title screen flashing past the opening: when you skipped the opening sequence quickly as the game started, the title screen used to flash for a moment before the rating notice appeared. That flicker is gone.
  • A repeat rating notice can be skipped: when the rating notice comes up again while the game is still running, it now closes the moment you press any key or button. The first notice shown when you start the game still stays for a few seconds, as before.
  • The pixel option that never took effect: turning on Experimental: precise pixel rendering in Settings and restarting the game did not actually apply it. Fixed — switch it on and restart, and it now takes effect.
  • Recalled scenes no longer roll into the credits: replaying a scene from Collection › Story Recall › Ending Scenes used to run on into the credits after the story. It now plays the story only. The credits have their own new Credits entry in the same place, unlocked once you have seen the credits.
  • The time limit that kept running while minimized: minimizing the game window while facing a boss with a Time Limit let the clock keep running, so the time could already be up when you came back. The clock now holds while the window is minimized and picks up with the time you had left once you restore it. Simply clicking over to another window does not stop it.
  • Confirmation and Seed Play windows that ignored the window size: the Seed Play window on the title screen and the confirmation windows that pop up on the title screen and in Settings were always drawn at one fixed size, so they looked oddly small the larger you made the game window. They now grow and shrink with the game screen, like every other window.
  • Text overflowing in some languages: fixed three places where longer text in languages such as Russian and German did not fit properly — stat names and buttons extending outside the window opened when you level up or press Stats, long skill names being cut off in Collection › Skill Tome, and pharmacy dialogue spilling outside its speech bubble and overlapping the information above it in small windows. Long dialogue now scrolls within the speech bubble, so you can read it in full. In Russian, the Discard, Play and Stop buttons along the bottom now use their English names, and the tutorial and scoreboard tips refer to them by those names as well.
  • A fresher foundation: updated what the game runs on under the hood and improved overall stability.

Thank you, as always, for tempering this table with us. May fortune find your sharpest fingertips — at a table in its new frame!
