SOS signals now run on fuel donations
Getting stranded no longer depends on someone flying out to rescue you.
- Sending an SOS signal is now free. It stays open for one hour and is announced in the Help channel.
- Any player with fuel to spare can donate 10 fuel to an open signal from the SOS list, once per signal. Donating never leaves you stranded yourself.
- Everything donated reaches the stranded player, whether the signal fills their tank or the hour runs out.
- When a signal fills the tank, one of its donors, picked at random, wins an exploring mystery box.
- Teleporting back to a starter system while stranded now costs 1,000,000 credits. Once your signal has run its hour, the trip back is free.
- Signals can no longer be cancelled, and there is no cooldown before sending a new one.
- You are now stranded when you are outside a starter system, under 10 fuel and carrying no warp capsule.
- The rescuer ranking now gives one point for every signal you donated to. Rescues from before this update still count.
- Your log now records SOS teleports, donations and expired signals.
- SOS announcements can be hidden from the Help channel in your chat settings, under SOS Signals.
- SOS signals left open from before this update will be closed after the patch hits.
- The exploring and galaxy map wiki articles explain the new flow.
