Snowplow Therapy - v. 1.0 - is OUT NOW!

Snowplow Therapy v1.0 is here!

Hi everyone!

We are super happy to release Snowplow Therapy v1.0!

It's been quite a journey – mainly of course experimenting with how snow looks and behaves and building cozy winter landscapes.

We wanted to make a game you could open after a long day, turn on some music, and simply enjoy clearing snow.

The whole idea of the game came from seeing these machines on the streets and in online videos - there's something really captivating about this.   And we wanted to make a game where you can experience it.

No rush, no pressure. Just you, the road, and a beautiful winter world…

A little about the snow...

The most important thing in a snowplowing game is making snow actually feel like snow.

This turned out to be quite a challenge.

What makes real snow so satisfying to watch is how it moves. As the plow pushes forward, snow gathers in front of the blade, moves sideways, and starts forming piles along the road. Those piles don't immediately become solid. The snow keeps moving, spreading and settling under its own weight.

Snow should ideally continue moving and settling for a little while even after the tractor stops.  It might seem like a tiny detail. But it seems to give the snow a sense of weight, as though it's actually there, rather than just being a visual effect.

Getting this to work while keeping performance and FPS under control has been one of biggest challenges.

And then there's the atmosphere...

The other thing we really cared about was making the game feel cozy.  Not just the usual day and night cycle, but beautiful sunsets, starry nights, colorful auroras, meteors and falling stars.

We also wanted the forests to feel welcoming, with spruces and pine trees lining the roads, a little snow resting on their branches, and mountains rising in the background.

At night, the tractor's headlights illuminate the snow, other vehicles have little blinking lights, and the whole scene can have a surprisingly peaceful, almost romantic feeling.

There are six winter worlds to explore: Alpine Valley, Narrow Roads, Snow Meadows, Frozen Lake, Pine Forest and Winter Coast.

One of our favorites is the mountain road with a nearly vertical rocky wall on one side and a steep drop into the valley on the other.

We also thought it was important to give players freedom to create the winter atmosphere they like.

You can change the time of day, add or reduce snow, choose how heavy the snowfall should be, adjust the weather cycle, and control how often auroras, meteors and other sky phenomena appear.

There are actually quite a lot of things you can adjust in the options menu (even how strongly camera shakes in the "driver's view" mode :)) - please explore the settings!

And have some fun with "more snow" / "less snow" buttons! Its not that they make the world behave realistically, but add a twist to the gameplay...

And of course, you can keep upgrading your tractor, plow blade and other snow-clearing attachments along the way.

Level Editor

The Level Editor includes houses, village buildings, skyscrapers, shops, trees, cars, road signs, streetlights and many other objects.

You can build snowy villages and cities, airports with planes and hangars, industrial areas, ports, and all sorts of other environments. You can also test what you've built directly in the game.

A few experiments beyond relaxing snowplowing

Endless Chill remains the main part of Snowplow Therapy, but during development we also had some ideas that were a bit different. So we turned them into experimental game modes.

Mini-Challenges Campaign: Handcrafted levels where you need to clear roads, complete specific tasks, and sometimes rescue vehicles stranded in the snow.

Tower to Mars: Instead of pushing snow away, collect it in your trailer, deliver it to a factory, turn it into ice blocks, and use them to build an enormous tower connecting Earth and Mars (why not?). Construction robots will help you.

Red–Green: Clear the snow, but stop moving whenever the red light comes on. The snowmen are watching! Each level gets a little more difficult.

They're quite different from the relaxed driving experience, but we had fun making them and hope you'll enjoy trying them.

Latest updates in the game were quite substantial.  Many parts were rebuilt, or were newly introduced.  Unfortunately, with so many changes, some save files from older early access versions may no longer work or sync and a new reset or reinstall will be needed.  We appreciate your understanding and very much hope that all the improvements and new content in v1.0 will make starting a fresh winter journey worthwhile!

So, what's next?

We're not finished working on Snowplow Therapy. We'll continue improving the game, fixing bugs and collecting feature requests.

In particular we would like to keep experimental modes evolving based on the players' feedbacks.

If you play and notice something that doesn't work as expected, please let us know.

We hope Snowplow Therapy gives you a nice way to relax and enjoy a little winter escape.

Thank you so much for playing the game and supporting us! And happy snowplowing!
