Dev Notes #1 — 10 Days Until Launch

Hey everyone! Welcome to our first Dev Notes!

With only 10 days left until launch, we wanted to share a quick update on the current state of The Last of RAM and some important decisions we’ve made during the final stage of development.

A lot of work has been done recently behind the scenes.

What’s already done

Achievements have been implemented and are now being tested along with the rest of the game.

We have also completed a major optimization pass. A significant amount of work went into improving performance, reducing unnecessary load, and making the overall experience more stable across different hardware.

Another important decision was to bring The Last of RAM to macOS. We are currently preparing a native version for Apple Silicon Macs with M-series processors.

The game has also been localized into all of the languages currently listed on the Steam store page.

What we’re working on now

We are currently implementing Xbox controller support and continuing to test it across the game.

At the same time, most of our remaining development time is now focused on:

  • testing;
  • bug fixing;
  • performance improvements;
  • polishing gameplay;
  • fixing localization and UI issues;
  • making the first release as stable as possible.

Our main priority right now is making sure players can launch the game, jump into the action, and play without constantly running into technical problems.

The Last of RAM will be released episodically

We have also made an important decision regarding the structure of the release.

Instead of releasing all planned content at once, The Last of RAM will now be released in several episodes.

The reason is simple: the release date is getting very close, and some of the content we originally planned still needs more development and polishing before we would feel comfortable releasing it.

We could delay the game again, but we don’t think that would be fair to the people who have been waiting for it. We also don’t want to repeatedly move the release date at the last moment.

So rather than releasing unfinished or poorly polished content, we decided to focus our remaining time on making Episode 1 as complete, stable, dynamic, and enjoyable as possible.

This change will also be reflected in the price of the game.

Our goal is for the first episode to provide a fast and entertaining experience that players can easily jump into, enjoy, and finish without being distracted by unnecessary technical issues.

The remaining planned content will continue to be developed and released in future episodes.

Thank you to everyone who has wishlisted the game, played the demo or playtest, reported bugs, and shared feedback with us.

10 days to go. See you at launch!
