September 29 Update: Read Along While You Play

September 29 Update: Read Along While You Play

Hello everyone! This update adds an in-game PDF reader, official AI model selection, and a dedicated point store, alongside improvements to music imports and Linux compatibility.

New PDF Source Reader

  • Open the source reader from the bottom toolbar during play to view a local PDF. On wide screens, display it beside the game and drag the divider to adjust the split.
  • Read continuously with the scroll wheel, select text, and zoom with Ctrl + mouse wheel.
  • Search includes highlighted matches, a result counter, and previous/next navigation. Inside the reader, Ctrl + F focuses search; Enter / Shift + Enter moves between matches.
  • Opening the reader turns off automatic story playback so you can check the source at your own pace. After loading a save, you can select the local PDF again.

Official AI Model Selection

  • Settings now offer Standard / Smart options, labeled Qwen3.7 Flash and gpt-6-luna, with the point cost for story generation displayed.
  • Your choice is saved automatically and applies to subsequent story generation and questions through the official service. Custom API mode is unaffected.
  • Simplified the custom text, vision, and voice model cards for a cleaner settings page.

Steam Point Store

  • A dedicated purchase page is now available from your profile. Choose a point pack and confirm payment in Steam.
  • The home screen and profile show daily and permanent points separately.

Local Music Storage Changes

  • Custom music is now stored as separate local files, with only references kept in settings, preventing audio data from making configuration files excessively large.
  • Previously imported custom music will not be migrated automatically. Please import it again after updating.

Interface and Compatibility Improvements

  • Refreshed the account card and the layout of the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy links.
  • Fixed test-image loading in custom vision model connection tests. Improved OpenCode API session compatibility by adding the required request header.
  • Background story continuation failures now retain more specific error information to help with reporting and diagnosis. This does not mean every generation failure has been resolved.

Experimental Linux Support Improvements

  • Bundled GTK3, AT-SPI, and related libraries to address startup failures caused by missing dependencies under Steam Runtime 4.
  • Linux x64 support remains experimental. Feedback from different distributions is welcome.

Thank you for your feedback! If you encounter a problem, please include screenshots, reproduction steps, and your latest runtime log to help us investigate.
