v1.3.0 | Saint-Estèphe and your next vintage

Grand Cru: The Wine Maker v1.3.0

I wanted buying new land and making the next wine to feel connected. This update adds a new place to grow, and gives your past vintages a place in the decisions you make today.

New land in Saint-Estèphe

  • Saint-Estèphe is now on the northern Bordeaux map, with three vineyards and six plots.
  • Every new listing there uses a sealed bid. Other wineries may bid too. The envelopes open next season. Your first bid costs one action point, and the bid amount is held until the result. If you lose, you get it back.
  • A rival winery that wins a plot pays for it and can plant vines there. Its future wines carry the Saint-Estèphe origin.

A reason to make the next vintage

  • Pick a brand and aim to beat your own best. When you bottle the next vintage, you can see its score beside the previous vintage and your personal best. The result stays in your winemaking chronicle.
  • Your selected brand now has a clear classement target, including rank defense at the top grade.
  • Choose a winery that finished near you in the last competition. The next competition's actual entries decide who came out ahead.
  • Collector Kenji Nakamura remembers the wine you introduced. He can return for a later vintage, and both visits remain in your chronicle. Chef contracts now show what is needed for the next step.
  • Your chronicle also records the first grape, origin, and blend combinations you made. Selling the wine or splitting its plot does not erase that discovery.

Map and saves

  • New land notices and bid results are separate. After winning, you can open the acquired plot directly and plan what to plant.
  • You can read rival estate profiles and past vintages from the classement board.
  • Existing saves continue with their land and wine history intact. Saint-Estèphe is added to them.

Thank you for playing. I am looking forward to seeing what you grow on the new land.
