Final Demo Patch: A Better Start for Explorers

Hey, Explorers! The final patch for the Zenith Expanse demo is live today. After more than two years of work, I'm preparing for the next big milestone: the Early Access launch on September 30. This update focuses entirely on the feedback I've heard most often: getting started can be difficult, and it takes time to understand how the game's systems fit together. Zenith Expanse has a lot of interconnected systems. Trading, for example, may look straightforward, but it is shaped by supply and demand, regional politics, and random events. You may even hear about some of those events through communications with other ships. I want the game to do a better job of explaining these connections as you play.

Here's what's new:

  • Zenipedia. This new knowledge base contains articles covering nearly all of the game's mechanics. It's only the first version, and I'll keep expanding and refining it. Even now, it should make it much easier to find the information you need and make informed decisions.
  • A new Command Center. The right side of the bottom bar had become crowded with icons that were hard to understand at a glance. I've combined several options into one panel, giving you quick access to your colonists, ships, and event log. The Command Center also shows your active mission and its current objective.
  • Improved onboarding. In addition to the opening missions, the game's most important systems now have short tutorials that explain the essentials step by step and guide you toward what to do next.

I hope these changes make your first steps in Zenith Expanse feel a lot less daunting. As always, I'd love to hear what you think, especially if anything still feels unclear.

Have fun!
