SoulScroll — Patch 0.2.1: The Well & Iron Mines

Patch 0.2.1 opens new paths beneath SoulScroll's world. Descend into the wells, reclaim iron mines and bring iron production to your settlement. New Goblin threats, a visible siege danger meter and fresh building upgrades give you more to discover and defend.

Descend into the Well

  • A shared underground chamber: Wells in Grassland and Darkforest lead to old stone passages, warm lanterns and a mysterious central pool.
  • Meet the automaton: This talkative, weathered machine spins its reels when you toss 42 Coins into the water. You may win weapons, Soul Scrolls or unusual prizes—though some combinations leave the drawer empty.
  • Expect the unexpected: Strange shadows, wandering light and wet footprints make the journey beneath the wells more than a shortcut.

Liberate the Iron Mines

  • Fight for the ore: Explore overgrown entrances, steep shafts and branching tunnels occupied by Goblins.
  • Put the mine to work: Defeat its defenders, then assign free villagers as mine workers to extract iron ore. Mine upgrades open additional worker positions.
  • Bring it home: Hire a pack donkey to carry ore from a liberated mine to a reachable storehouse.

Forge Iron and Chart the World

  • Iron Foundry: Build a new production building, assign a worker and connect it to the settlement roads. The foundry turns iron ore and logs into iron ingots for construction.
  • World Map board: Build a parchment map that reveals the landscape as you explore. Discovered wells, mines, windmills and Goblin camps appear on the map, and exploration is shared in co-op.

Face New Goblin Threats

  • Mine Goblins: These mine defenders fight with pickaxes and hurled ore. Higher tiers add charges, explosives and ground shockwaves.
  • Goblin Rune Slingers: Ranged support fighters arc glowing rune projectiles over their allies. Their six tiers introduce increasingly dangerous area attacks.

Watch the Siege Danger

The new bar in the Great Hall HUD shows the chance of the next siege. Settlement growth, new villagers, defeated enemies and cleared Goblin camps raise it. Every two minutes, danger rises and a siege check occurs; at 100%, the next check starts a siege. Danger pauses during an active siege and resets when a new one begins. You can still call the next wave yourself at the Great Hall.

Upgrade Your Settlement

  • Roads: Drag out settlement routes, then unlock reinforced gravel and stone paving through Settlement Progression. A golden wave follows connected roads as they upgrade, and new roads inherit your unlocked tier.
  • Buildings: Unlock the next building tier through its own Great Hall progression banner. Once available, an upgrade rebuilds the building without another material delivery. The Lumberjack Hut, Sawmill and Stonemason gain a worker position with each tier.
  • Clearer menus: The Great Hall, Lumberjack Hut, Marketplace, build cards, inventories, character windows and quest displays have been refreshed for easier reading and better screen fit.
