v0.2.3 Update - Floors 6–10, 14 New Relics & High-Resolution Cards

A Word from the Developer

The landlord is demanding rent more ruthlessly than ever.

As the tenant, can you hold out?

To back you up, we've brought in new relics and Petal Upgrades that can turn the table.

And, as many of you have asked for — crisp, high-resolution Hanafuda cards.

This is a big one.

New Content

  • Hard difficulty floors 6–10
  • New relics: 2 Boss Relics · 12 Rare Relics
  • 3 new Petal Upgrades
  • 2 new Achievements

Translation Quality

  • Added an in-game link for reporting translation issues directly.
  • Japanese text now consistently uses polite form.

Quality of Life

  • High-Resolution Hanafuda — Card art has been upgraded to high resolution.
  • Usability — Fixed several cases where rapid clicking pressed a button you didn't intend to.
  • Traditional Name Display — Added an option to show combination names in their original Koi-Koi pronunciation (e.g. Five Brights → Goko).

See below for full details.

New Content

New Challenge Floors (6–10)

🏔 Floors 4–10 (only changed floors are listed)

  • Floor 4 — Rent increases.
  • Floor 5 — A cursed card is added to your deck.
  • Floor 6 — Rounds 3, 6 and 9 restrict one more combination.
  • Floor 7 — You earn less gold.
  • Floor 8 — Rent increases sharply.
  • Floor 9 — Brights, the Sake Cup and sealed cards appear less often.
  • Floor 10 — The final collection is held twice.

Changes to existing floors

  • The old Floor 5 "final collection held twice" has moved to Floor 10.
  • Floor 4's rent increase on the last round of each season now applies to every round.

New Boss Relics

Azure Lightning

While in your hand, this card can capture any one card of your choice from the field. It also counts as 3 Plains, which will be a huge help throughout your run.

Late Fall

A powerful relic: cards of the same month won't fall until there are 4 of them. Be careful, though — you start with one fewer card in hand, and you can't choose which card to capture.

New Rare Relics

  • Bust Bonus — Gain 5 Gold immediately whenever a Bust happens on your turn. How to unlock: experience a Bust on your own turn on Floor 1 or higher. It then appears in the shop from your next run.
  • Animal Bonus Card / Ribbon Bonus Card — Adds an Animal / Ribbon Bonus Card to your deck. Counts toward the card total for the Animals / Ribbons combinations.
  • Red Ribbons · Blue Ribbons · Grass Ribbons · Boar-Deer-Butterfly · Birds: One More — After completing the combination, it completes again at 4, 5 and 6 cards.
  • Iris Set · Maple Set · Rain Set · Paulownia Set: Two More — After completing the combination, it completes again at 6 and 10 cards.

These 9 combination relics replace the old Boss Relics and help you decide your deck's direction.

Relic Changes

Tier changes

  • Double Level-Up: Rare ⇒ Common
  • Rain Bird: Common ⇒ Rare
  • Rain Ribbon: Common ⇒ Rare Rain Bird and Rain Ribbon are valuable ways to raise your combination odds, so we raised their tier a bit.
  • Double Bomb · Triple Bomb · Month Picker: Rare ⇒ Epic These are core pieces that can increase your bonus cards. Since they allow strategic play, we decided to raise their rarity.

Renamed

  • Bust Picker ⇒ Month Picker

Balance changes

  • Paulownia Double Plain now also applies to Crimson King, making it count as 4 Plains instead of 3.
  • Chrysanthemum Cup: a Sake Cup used to complete Flower Viewing Sake or Moon Viewing Sake can no longer be moved.

Removed

  • The 3 Boss Relics that applied to the whole Ribbon, Animal and Month Set families Replaced by the new Rare Relics, so you can pick and refine exactly the combination you want.

Boss Relic buffs

  • Omen — New: you can send a card revealed by Omen to the bottom of the draw pile. Omen can now be used more than once per turn.
  • Scry — After sending a card to the bottom, you can send one more.

🌸 New Petal Upgrades

  • Relic Shelf (10 Petals) — Shop relic slots 2 ⇒ 3 With more relics in the game, you now get more relics on display so you can find the ones you want.
  • Bust Recovery (5 Petals) — When you capture a Bust pile created on your own turn, you receive 1 Bonus Card. A Bust is one of the harshest penalties you'll meet from Floor 1. Aside from Omen and Scry there was no way to prepare for it, so we added Bust Recovery to soften the blow.
  • Last Play Bust Guard (10 Petals) — "No Bust occurs when you play your last card in hand." How to unlock: experience a Bust with your last card in hand once. It then appears in Petal Upgrades and can be purchased. Losing all your Gold to a Bust on your final Go was just painful. With this upgrade, you can go for that Go more boldly.

Petal Upgrade Changes

  • Renewal Riders: 3 ⇒ 10 Petals
  • Free Reroll: 3 / 3 ⇒ 5 / 10 Petals per rank. Now unlocks after rerolling the shop 1 / 10 times.
  • Month Set combinations: Iris, Maple, Rain and Paulownia Sets now unlock after opening the combination twice.
  • Reduced Petal gain: Removed the floor XP multiplier bonus and the run-completion bonus XP. Clearing a floor was granting Petals much faster than intended, and many players finished all upgrades too early. Fast progression is nice, but we slowed it down so Petals don't pile up far ahead of unlocks.

Other

Higher Bright odds in card packs

  • Brights in the 3-card reward: 3.6% ⇒ 4.9% per card
  • Brights in Card Packs: 4.2% ⇒ 5.8% per card

Brights are one of the strongest decks in the game, and we keep tuning their odds to keep things fun. Since penalties like the Rain Bright clause weaken Bright decks from Floor 2 onward, we're raising their odds to give them more power.

Boss round restrictions

  • In Animal-restricted rounds, Flower Viewing Sake and Moon Viewing Sake are no longer restricted.
  • In Bright-restricted rounds, the two Sake combinations now correctly appear in the list of blocked combinations.

Fortune Pack

  • Bonus Cards, Crimson King and cursed cards can now be removed, transformed and copied.
  • When copying, you now pick the original first, then the card to be replaced — and the result is previewed.

Renewal Clause changes

  • Seed Money: 10 ⇒ 7 Gold Seed Money was too strong, so we toned it down a little.
  • Old Debt: −10 ⇒ −5 Gold
  • Plain, Animal and Ribbon Bonus relics can now appear as Renewal Clauses.

🌐 Translation & Languages

As a solo developer, supporting every player's language is my biggest challenge.

To help with that, I've added a "Language Feedback" button to the language select screen.

If anything reads unnaturally, please let me know. I'll review every report and work to improve it.

🏆 New Achievements

  • Not a Single Petal — Complete all 12 rounds without any Petal Upgrades.
  • Tenth Floor — Complete the Floor 10 lease.

✨ Quality of Life

  • Card art is now high resolution and stays sharp at any resolution.
  • The bubbles that alert you when a combination is one step away are 1.5× larger.
  • Cards in your hand that can complete a combination now glow.
  • If an almost-complete combination you passed on comes back on your next turn, a sound lets you know.
  • Settlement: received amounts and the interest gauge are now larger.
  • When rent is high, gauge ticks switch to 50 / 500-point steps for easier reading.
  • Rain Bright clause: once you capture the Rain Bright, Brights are shown as "Rainy Four Brights n/4".
  • When a Green Seal group reaches 4 cards, they all glow green and show "4/4".
  • Fixed rapid clicks through a popup pressing "Go" on a Go/Stop window that had just opened.
  • Fixed rapid clicks through the reward screen turning into shop purchases.
  • Fixed the Rent Coupon disappearing without warning when you Stop. A warning popup now appears before a missed payment.
  • Candidate cards in selection popups now show tooltips, so stacked cards can be read one by one.
  • You can now open the Combinations tab while picking cards from your deck.
  • Added a "View Field" button to the Sake Cup move window.
  • Pressing Omen with 0 charges now plays a rejection sound.
  • The SALE ribbon no longer covers pack names.
  • The lock now sits next to the price.
  • The shop's Remove slot is now drawn with dotted lines.
  • Level-Up packs now show "Now → After purchase" values.
  • Hovering the floor indicator at the top right now lists every clause up to that floor.
  • Fixed some contract text wrapping onto 2–3 lines and becoming hard to read.

🎵 Sound

  • Streamer Mode now plays its own dedicated BGM.
  • The heartbeat that played throughout boss rounds now only plays in moments of crisis.

🛠 Bug Fixes

  • Fixed automatic captures at the start of a round (Bonus Cards, 4 cards of the same month) raising your score before you took any action.
  • Fixed the Green Seal failing to fully prevent falls when a card flipped from the draw pile caused a double match.
  • Fixed Green Seal numbers remaining after settlement.
  • Shake's ×2 and 1 Gold now apply only after you actually play a card of that month.
  • Fixed Bonus Cards appearing after a Bomb overlapping other cards.
  • Fixed cards flipped from the draw pile stacking over and hiding the next flipped card.
  • Fixed the rent text turning red when buying in the shop.
  • Fixed the Go count at the top right overlapping the Gold area in Japanese and Chinese.
  • Made the shop "Remove" wording consistent in Japanese, Chinese and Spanish.
  • Fixed the "All Combinations Open" achievement only unlocking after playing the next round.
