Open For Business Has Left Early Access!

Open For Business Has Left Early Access! 🎉

Hey everyone!

On August 23, Open For Business: Game & Movie Store Simulator officially left Early Access and reached Version 1.0!

First of all, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported the game during Early Access. Whether you bought the game, reported bugs, shared feedback, suggested ideas, joined the Discord, or wrote something in the Steam Discussions — you helped me improve the game and get it to this point.

This is my first game, and I'm genuinely incredibly happy that I managed to bring it all the way to a full release :)

A New, Lower Price

Along with the full release, I decided to significantly lower the price of the game to $5.99.

The reason is simple: I want Open For Business to be accessible to more players.

I'd rather have more people discover the game, build their own stores, fill them with games, movies, VHS tapes, collectibles and all kinds of ridiculous stuff, and hopefully have a good time doing it :)

Version 1.0 Does NOT Mean Development Is Over

I want to make one thing very clear:

Leaving Early Access does not mean that development has ended.

There are still things I would like to add to the game over time.

One of my bigger ideas is to eventually create some kind of sandbox mode, if I'm able to make it work the way I want. I also have other ideas and improvements that I'd love to experiment with in future updates.

How far I can take all of this will depend heavily on how much interest there is in the game.

At the moment, Open For Business is still a very small indie project and hasn't sold enough copies for me to work on it full-time. Because of that, I've had to return to a regular job.

Apparently, a wife and a small child require something slightly more nutritious than instant noodles and tap water. Who knew? 😂

So development may sometimes move more slowly than I'd like, but I am not abandoning the game.

There are still things I want to do with it.

The Most Stable Version So Far

Version 1.0 is also the most stable build of Open For Business I've released so far.

I've fixed the known issues I was able to reproduce and spent quite a lot of time improving the overall stability of the game.

I've also worked on optimization, particularly in situations where the store contains a large number of products.

There have been some improvements here, although optimization is always a tricky subject because every PC configuration is different.

Still, I've been really happy to see reports in Steam reviews, Discord and the Community Discussions from players getting around 120 FPS, sometimes even on PCs that aren't particularly powerful.

That's definitely nice to see :)

Of course, that doesn't mean there can't still be bugs.

If you encounter one, please report it!

The more information you can provide about what happened and what you were doing when it happened, the easier it is for me to find the cause and fix it.

One Important Reminder

If you're starting a new game, please follow the tutorial step by step.

The tutorial introduces the game's systems gradually, and following its objectives in order is the best way to learn how everything works and avoid unnecessary confusion.

And if something still doesn't make sense — just ask.

Your Feedback Is Always Welcome

If you find a bug, have an idea, think something could work better, or simply want to suggest something for a future update, you're always welcome to write to me.

You can use either:

  • Steam Community Discussions
  • Discord

I read the feedback and try to respond whenever I can.

Some suggestions may be possible to implement, some may not fit the direction of the game, and others may take time — but I'm always interested in hearing what players think.

Thank You ❤️

Once again, thank you to everyone who bought Open For Business during Early Access and helped me get the game this far.

And thank you to everyone who is discovering and buying the game now that Version 1.0 is available.

Creating and releasing my first game has been a huge experience for me, and I'm genuinely happy that I managed to reach this milestone.

Open For Business has left Early Access.

But that doesn't mean the story ends here. :)

There are still things I'd like to add, ideas I'd like to try, and improvements I'd like to make over time.

For now, I hope you enjoy Version 1.0 — the most stable version of the game yet.

Thank you for playing, thank you for supporting the project, and I hope Open For Business brings you many hours of fun. ❤️
