Inferno Protocol 0.6: The Biggest Update Yet

Inferno Protocol 0.6 Update

New Content

  • Added melee blocking. Hold right click / L2 to block enemy attacks. A perfect block (blocking right before a hit lands) lets you take no damage.
  • Added a new jelly-like enemy, the Swamp Keeper. It absorbs most types of damage and barely reacts to them, with the exception of impact damage.
  • Added the Proximity Mine, a new trap that warns you when you get close and detonates if you come any closer.
  • Added Sight Turrets. Spray their eye to knock them into alert mode.
  • Added electric traps.
  • Added trader NPCs hiding in trash containers. You can find them inside the maze.
  • Added poisonous, aggressive trees to the Swamp.
  • Added the Baton melee weapon.
  • Added the Poison Spear melee weapon.
  • Added Poison Arrows, a new arrow type.
  • Added a mask and gloves to the Monster armor set.
  • Added the helmet for the Shepherds' combat suit.
  • Added 3 new audio recordings to the maze interiors.
  • Added new interiors to the Swamp Layer.
  • Added airless areas to many parts of the Swamp that require a gas mask.
  • Added environmental storytelling text to many places around the maze.
  • Added watchtowers to the safe zone on the windmill, the spotlights, and the tops of the maze walls.
  • Added many new spray marks.
  • Added Thai language support.

Gameplay Changes

  • Jungle Layer and Swamp Layer have been revamped, with new parkour points added.
  • Loot balance has been adjusted.
  • Prices of some trader items have been increased for balance.
  • AI now detects the walls you place.
  • AI is now slowed down by spike traps.
  • Leaf Hunters now drop items like Scent Essence and Poison Thorn. Scent Essence releases a smell where you throw it and distracts nearby enemies.
  • Jungle Keepers now drop Plant Extract. Use it to craft a Plant Extract Totem that makes your plants grow faster.
  • DNA Extraction has been reworked. A failed extraction no longer gives you Weird DNA. Instead, the empty syringe breaks in your hand. You can use an empty syringe to take DNA from a friend who has injected an ability and copy it for yourself (we recommend extracting within 2 minutes of your friend injecting). Extracting DNA from creatures is now easier too.
  • A tutorial UI now appears when a DNA extraction fails.
  • Added tutorial UI to many abilities.
  • You can now put yourself out in flowing water when you are on fire.
  • The Air Flamingo now keeps you on the water surface at all times.
  • You can now turn on the sprint stamina display in gameplay settings.
  • Looting items dropped from broken objects is now easier.
  • You can now close panels with the F (interaction) key.
  • When shutting down power supplies, you can now see from the consoles whether there is a conflict, how many need to be shut down, and how many are already off.

Visuals and UI

  • Water effects have been redesigned. Water now feels better and more satisfying with your character, your speed, and physical collisions. Splashes on the water surface also wet your screen now.
  • Added a new screen effect when you are poisoned.
  • Cooked food now gives off smoke.
  • The UI shown when entering the maze, entering camp areas, and breaking objects has been redesigned.
  • The scroller in the settings menu is now more visible.
  • Minor changes to zombie clothing.
  • Grass rendering has been improved.
  • Minor improvements to the Prologue.

Building

  • The build system works much better now and detects snap points more accurately.
  • Fixed snap points for ladders and signs.
  • Objects now rotate much faster when you hold the sprint key while rotating.

Performance and Settings

  • Added options to turn off GPU Resident Drawer and GPU Occlusion Culling for low-end hardware. If objects flicker in and out around you on a low-end system, try turning these off. It will most likely fix the issue.
  • Slightly improved overall performance.
  • Optimized the scene's NavMesh data. You will no longer see NPCs that occasionally spawned inside walls or under the ground.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a major bug that could block game progression.
  • Fixed all reported sync issues.
  • Fixed a rare bug that affected save data.
  • Fixed punches sometimes creating a faulty particle effect.
  • Fixed the game freezing when players went to sleep and pressed Enter at the same time.
  • Fixed players sometimes continuing to slide after leaving slippery surfaces.
  • Fixed clothing disappearing from certain angles because of render bounds.
  • Fixed volumetric fog making some transparent objects invisible.
  • Fixed localization errors on some meat items.
