Catch Flex 1.3.0: play it in VR, as an experimental mode
Catch Flex was built for people without a headset: one camera, no gamepad, no wearables. Today it also plays in VR, and the camera is what makes it different from every other VR rhythm game. Your headset and controllers carry your head and hands. Your phone, standing in front of you, keeps tracking your legs. So the balls still want your feet, the floor markers still want a stomp, and a slide is still a slide, with nothing strapped to your ankles.
How to play
- Any OpenXR headset through SteamVR. A Quest connects over Steam Link or Link.
- Launch Catch Flex and pick "Catch Flex VR (Experimental)" when Steam asks how to launch. The free demo has it too.
- Put your phone in front of you with the free Catch Flex: Controller app. It finds the game on your Wi-Fi by itself. No app yet? The code to get it is in the menu and on your PC's monitor.
- Stand in the T-pose the game shows and hold both triggers for a second. That is the whole calibration.
No phone at hand?
VR also plays with your hands alone. Stomps turn into blocks at chest height that you cut downwards, slides rise into the air, and everything else on the floor comes up to your waist.
What is in
The full Vol. 1, the free track in the demo, your own levels from the editor, and blades on your fists for slashing blocks. VR keeps its own leaderboards, one for the full body with the phone and one for the hands alone, so nobody competes against a different setup.
Experimental
The legs come from a phone camera, so they can lag a little and drift when you sway. If something looks off, write to support@catchflex.com or tell us on Discord: catchflex.com/discord
