Early Access Roadmap

Thank you to everyone who has played so far during Early Access, and a special thank you to everyone who has filed bugs or given feedback.

Despite a rocky launch with delayed Steam approval, the game has hit its Early Access sales goals and the path is clear to a full launch in Q2 2027.

All of the feedback and data from those who opted in to the Early Access gameplay report telemetry has given me a really clear idea of where the game needs to improve to reach its full potential.

So what can you expect over the next few months?

Major Updates

The goal is to release a major update once per month, with smaller bug-fix, balance, and optimization patches in between where necessary.

As the game gets closer to launch in Q2 2027, major updates will end and all work will go towards preparing the full release for all platforms.

What will major updates include? Here are some of the biggest changes that are planned based on current user feedback.

Note: Plans may change based on new data, feedback, or development issues.

Gameplay Improvements

  • Help struggling players learn combat strategy and how to put together a build
  • Provide new talismans, tools, and items that let players create more complicated and unusual builds
  • Make nighttime more fun while retaining its fear factor
  • Improved Book of Burdens balancing
  • Improvements to Strict mode

Story and World Improvements

  • Add new dialog, NPCs, and interactions to deepen the player's connections to the story
  • Show the extended impact of player decisions with a post-credits epilogue sequence taking place the following year
  • Improve Reliable Repairs to make it feel more like a real hub
  • Additional in-game voices (not including dialog or cinematics)

Additional Content

  • A set of Creation Rituals that give a strong reason to replay the game
  • An additional game section that involves both Althea and the Doll
  • Basic Mod support for easily adding community translations or enemy/tool changes

Full Release Features

  • Official support for additional languages (to be announced)
  • Console ports (platforms to be announced)

Of course, it wouldn't be any fun if everything was revealed up front, so you can expect a few surprises along the path to the full release as well.

October Major Update

The game's first major update is coming October 14 and will be published to the #nextversion branch a few days prior for testing.

This update is currently planned to include:

  • Two new NPCs to help new players learn to play the game and draw them into the story
  • An expanded training room
  • New talismans and other items to help you make more interesting builds
  • Additional Creation Rituals including a randomizer to make subsequent playthroughs more interesting
  • Improvements to Reliable Repairs, including a record player, a new friend, and... other things
  • Clover voicelines
  • Bug fixes, balancing updates, and optimizations

Here are two of the new talismans:

Thank you for your patience and support during Early Access and please continue to give feedback and file in-game bug reports on the path to full release.
