[Patch Notes] - 29 September Update - La Pantera

Hello folks! We are thrilled to announce our biggest Early Access update yet!

Our newest Idol, Dahlia, has taken the stage! This means a full new Story level, new dialogue, new cosmetics, new challenges, new skills, new memorabilia, and more! But that's not all, check out below for a ton of new features and improvements that come as part of this update!

Hotfix October 1, 2026:

- Adjusted the “Perfect Strikes” node in Charlie’s skill tree to do more damage for basic attacks when perfect. This allows Stan enemies to be stunned in 4 perfect hits instead of 5 - Fixed an issue where re-activation of Thunderstuck (Dex’s ability) were not working properly - Fixed an issue where sprinting Bass Invader was not working properly - Fixed an issue where finishing the bouncer in Dahlia’s level at a specific time in the music caused Charlie to move in slow motion and throw the camera off - Fixed an issue where time spent in the dialog at the beginning of Dahlia’s level was counting against the player for scoring penalties - Fixed an issue where players could “ride” the tornado during the Dahlia boss fight

NOTE: Leaderboards have been reset due to the large volume of new changes

NEW IDOL AND STORY LEVEL

- Experience the fiery fury of La Pantera as you battle Dead as Disco's pianist and dancer, Dahlia, in a completely new story level - Dahlia prefers longer attack combos as she will jump in and out of Charlie's range. She'll also employ a few tricks as she dances around the battlefield - The new Flamecho enemy will rain fire down on Charlie's head and then rapidly move in to close range for an unblockable strike and counterable follow-up - New skill tree for Dahlia now available after defeating her story level. Her signature ability, Phantom Dance, allows Charlie to do an empowered dodge, leaving an AoE damaging Pyroette in his wake. A follow up attack to that Pyroette can detonate it, causing additional damage - New status effect, Burn, deals damage per beat - Dahlia will appear in The Encore after she is defeated, with her own set of quests and dialogue - 5(!) new songs available: La Pantera (Radio Edit), La Pantera (Boss Remix), Sugar and Spice, Suavemente, and Kumbala - 8 new challenges are available: La Pantera, Rise to Fandom, Sugar and Spice, Sweet Memories, Total Meltdown, Sibling Rivalry, Suavemente, and Kumbala - New arenas to unlock from Dahlia: The Nightshade and Obsidian Overture - New Dahlia cosmetics can now be unlocked for Charlie to be even more stylish (if that's even possible) - New Dance moves are available: Salsa Fan, Honest Hips, and Bad Boy Boogie - A variety of Dahlia memorabilia items can now be unlocked - Flamecho, Smoking Stan, and Dahlia (boss) added to Infinite Disco

COMBAT

- Health bars and targeting indicator have undergone a visual pass - Tweaked some rules for when health bars appear - There is now an indicator next to enemy health bars when Charlie has a Takedown token available. We noticed many players forgetting to use their Takedowns and introduced this as an option. If you prefer the old behavior, it can be toggled off in Settings > Gameplay > UI > Takedown Indicator - Dodge indicators now have their button light up during the perfect window. This is to make it more clear when dodges are guaranteed to be safe - Normal counter indicators can no longer change to music synced counter indicators mid-attack (the yellow spikey ones). Additionally, we improved enemy attack behavior to make the music synced counters more consistent - Made off-screen indicators more visible by giving them an animation and making them more centered in the game screen - Lowered the priority of Stan attacks compared to other enemies. In other words, bigger enemies will attack more often - Bass Invader: initial activation cost has been reduced from 2 bars of Fever to 1 bar, but will constantly drain Fever as it charges - Bass Invader: when charged and the player runs out of Fever, it will be released automatically - Sprint slide attack will no longer drop combo if performed without a target - Singularity: initial activation cost reduced from 2 bars to 1 bar, but will start draining Fever as long as it's being charged - Singularity: regains its float hit reaction on the initial summon of the black hole - Singularity: damage on the stab has been increased - Singularity: added some VFX on initial black hole summon - Chain Lightning: added 1 extra bounce for perfect activation of Chain Lightning - Perfect Strikes upgrade will no longer grant additional damage boost upon initiating an attack with Perfect timing. Fever gain multiplier value is 20%. KNOWN ISSUE: The in-game text does not correctly reflect this and will be updated in a future patch - Matchsticks causes both Drumstick Toss and Backup Sticks to apply Burn. The in-game text does not correctly reflect this and will be updated in a future patch - Skill tree text, description, and formatting updated across all skill trees - Included perfect bonuses on Idol Abilities and upgrades - Fixed Prophet's barrage counter ending itself early - Fixed projectiles not being perfectly dodgeable when multiple are fired at once - Fixed a bug where under very rare circumstances Charlie could be launched in the air when fighting Dex in Phase 2 - Added some new combat animations

SETTINGS AND KEYBINDINGS

- The Settings menu has undergone a visual revamp and reorganization - Controller buttons can now be remapped under Controller > Controller Mapping

INFINITE DISCO

- Arena Select: new visual pass - Arena Select: added a bunch of new triggers for swapping arenas: Dance Move, Flashback, Finisher, Perfect Counter, damage taken, every X KOs, and wave end. You can also select multiple of these at the same time - Arena Select: added the ability to choose the pool of arenas to choose from when an arena swap occurs (so you can exclude Green Screen!) - Challenge, Down With Authority: changed Mod to Bass Invader Focus, so only Bass Invader is active and other Idol Abilities are disabled - Fixed Round 60 causing enemies to instantly kill you. After encountering the modifier it would persist into Challenges and early rounds - Fixed an issue where an arena swap could happen on Takedown input without activating the Takedown ability - Custom: fixed an issue where saving a challenge would use the last hovered song instead of the selected one - Custom: new UGC Mod which grants unlimited Fever

GENERAL

- The Encore: added new dialogue - The Encore: cosmetic/memorabilia UI will now show current and target counts under condition (for unlock conditions based on count of something) - The Encore: area upgrades now feature speakers, which will play your jukebox music throughout the bar. Basically, as you level up your bar, you'll hear the music better! - Placed "Restart Level" as the first option on the death (Results) screen - Fixed an issue where inputs were being incorrectly ignored when using the shorter perfect input windows mod - Fixed difficulty select widget losing (and being unable to regain) focus in situations where the boss dialogue was spammed through - Fixed a bug where Charlie would be sinking/bouncing on the floor in Prophet's Phase 1 intro - Fixed a bug where moveset sync counters wouldn't trigger correctly on transitions when the player was in a Finisher or a Takedown - Localization fix for ES: "New Playlist" was too small in the Song List screen - Various VO bug fixes - Small general optimization improvements

SPECIAL THANKS

- To the playtesters that played an early version of Dahlia and whose feedback was vital for us making a number of improvements! - If you are interested in playtesting in the future, please join our Discord!

KNOWN ISSUES

- Dahlia level: if Charlie knocks out the bouncer at the exact right time in the song, he will briefly move in slow motion and experience some camera issues. We are working on a fix - Dahlia level: Combo currently gets dropped during the Boss intro cutscene. We are working on a fix
