Recurrence Update – Tank Controls, Map Improvements & More
Hello everyone!
A few days ago, we shared some of the changes we wanted to work on following the launch of Recurrence. The first batch of those improvements is now available!
Here’s everything included in this update:
- Map improvements. You can now draw directly on each map to help you navigate, mark points of interest, or plan your route. You can also place predefined markers if you want to quickly mark something important. All drawings and markers are saved automatically.
- Tank controls. Optional tank controls are now available! You can enable them from the Controls section in the settings menu. You can also adjust the rotation speed to your liking.
- Storage box improvements. We’ve improved the visual feedback when storing, moving, and retrieving items from the storage box. You can now also split item stacks, so you can choose exactly how many items you want to take with you or leave behind. No more having to move the entire stack at once!
- End of the loop. We’ve added some visual feedback to make it clearer when the current cycle is running out of time. We’ve also improved the visual feedback when sleeping in the chair to better communicate the passage of time.
- Camera improvements. The third-person camera is now more stable and will no longer collide with certain elements of the environment. We’ve also added a new effect that makes objects blocking the camera automatically become transparent, improving visibility during exploration and combat.
- Input icons. We’ve added specific input icons for PlayStation and Steam Deck, and also updated the Xbox icons.
- General gameplay adjustments. You’ll now deal slightly more damage to the final boss. Once you’ve reached the boss for the first time, you’ll no longer need to re-enter the door codes, and the portal will already be active, making subsequent attempts less tedious. We’ve also adjusted the elevator camera so that it now focuses on the elevator screen when you enter.
- Bug fixes. We’ve fixed several texts that were not properly localized. We’ve also fixed an issue with fixed cameras: when aiming with the camera movement option enabled, Vera will now correctly aim in the direction she is facing.
Steam Deck
We’ve also been working on improving the Steam Deck experience. The game should now run properly on the device, including dedicated Steam Deck input icons.
One of our next goals is to get official Steam Deck verification from Valve. Hopefully, you’ll see that little green checkmark on Recurrence’s Steam page soon!
As always, thank you so much for all the feedback you’ve been sending us. We’re continuing to read your comments, reviews, and messages, and we’ll keep working to make Recurrence even better.
