Hello everyone!
It’s been a few days since the launch of Recurrence, and before we talk about what’s coming next, we want to thank you all for the incredible support we’ve received.
We really appreciate all your feedback. It’s helping us a lot to identify what we can improve and, most importantly, decide what our next steps should be.
So, we’d like to share some of the things we’ll be working on:
- Map improvements. We’re going to implement a system that allows you to draw directly on each map. We believe this will help you navigate the world on your own, mark things you find interesting, and even plan what you want to accomplish during your current loop, without breaking the philosophy we’ve always wanted to maintain with Recurrence.
- Adjustments to the beginning of the game. As some of you have pointed out, the first enemy encounter can feel a little abrupt. We want to rework this section to build up the tension before the encounter and give it a little more context, ending with a short cutscene that introduces this first threat in a more natural way.
- Tank controls. We’ll be adding classic tank controls as an optional control scheme. Of course, you’ll still be able to use the current controls if you prefer.
- Illustrated sequences. We want to add new scenes using 2D illustrations, both at the beginning of the game and for its different endings. We think this is an important addition that will help provide more context and strengthen the story at both the beginning and the end of the experience.
- Splitting item stacks. We’re going to add the ability to split item stacks in the storage box, so you can decide exactly how many items you want to take with you and how many you want to leave behind. A small change that will give you more control when organizing and managing your resources.
- Third-person camera control improvements. We’re going to review the behavior and controls of the camera during third-person sections to make them feel more natural and comfortable.
- Better feedback when a loop is about to end. We want to improve the way the game communicates that time is running out, making it easier to tell when the end of the current loop is approaching.
- New languages. We’re working on expanding the number of languages available in Recurrence. We’re currently planning to add Russian, German, Portuguese, and French.
We’ve also seen that some members of the community have already worked on an unofficial Russian translation, which we greatly appreciate. If you’ve worked on a Recurrence translation, or would like to help us officially bring the game to your language, we’d be very happy to hear from you.

Finally, we especially want to thank you for using the Steam forums to share discoveries, answer questions, and help each other out. Recurrence was designed from the very beginning as an experience where figuring things out for yourself and sharing that knowledge with other players is part of the game itself, so we love seeing this happen naturally within the community.
As always, we’re open to hearing your thoughts. If you have any suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the game or any of the changes mentioned above, feel free to leave them in the comments on this announcement. We’ll be keeping an eye on them and reading everything you send our way.
And once again, thank you to everyone playing Recurrence, sharing your feedback, and helping us make the game just a little bit better than it already was.
