Patch #7 - Branching Endings

The Shareholders continue to improve your Software Product.

If you've been out of the office, now's the perfect time to get back to work and enjoy our new Branching Endings content! If you're a new employee, try out our free demo and enjoy a Steam Autumn Sale discount until October 8th. 🍂

Branching Endings: The Software Product now provides players with different endings depending on whether they decide to throw the court case and what the final payout is.

  • If you’ve already beaten the game, come try out the new endings anyway! Upon downloading the patch, the game will automatically return you to the beginning of court so you can experience a new ending or, if you make all the same choices, a sense of déjà vu!
  • But be warned! This reset will only happen once, so make sure you get the ending your heart truly desires! Will you deny the Regulator’s claims? Will you throw the case? Will you attempt to throw the case but fail wildly and end up denying the Regulator’s claims anyway? It’s up to you!
  • Note: while the Shareholders do believe these endings are an improvement, they also believe that the very fact that the Software Product ends at all is in itself a small reminder of the impending death that must one day come for us all, and that because of this, no ending can truly hope to overcome the ennui pursuant to the very passage of time itself. Still, we hope you enjoy them!
  • Critical Decisions are now clearly identified as such. We would have decided to do this sooner, but it was unclear that the decision was critical.
  • New UI now displays settlement offers in court. Because you shouldn’t have to settle for less. Really you shouldn’t be settling at all. Remember, compromise is simply another form of giving up.
  • Fixed a softlock that would occur when a trap would cause a character to die while moving to take an action. This was indeed a bug and not, as some have called it, a “metatrap” meant to “ensnare and demoralize the player.”
  • Fixed a bug where, if players quit the game on the battle defeat screen, then upon reloading, they would be immediately re-defeated and re-penalized. Korador’s Double Jeffrey law clearly states that a citizen cannot be penalized multiple times for the same infraction, and we all know what happened to him.
  • Fixed a bug that caused certain conversation branches to be locked behind the incorrect relationship level. Love now conquers all. Or at least, love conquers the appropriate relationship branches.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused health bars not to update properly after start-of-turn ability triggers. As the adage goes, they who are healthful are wealthful. And at the end of the day, isn’t wealth what truly matters?
  • Fixed a bug that caused Sylvie to be less animated than intended. Her character portrait, that is. Sylvie herself has always been extremely animated and it is our recommendation that you not provide her with coffee.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Pallas to sometimes do impressions of other casters. We have forbidden him from dabbling in new hobbies until he gets better at harmonica.
  • Fixed at least one typo.
  • If players quit the game during a conversation, when they reload, the game skips the remainder of said conversation. Further evidence that once begun, the game must immediately be played until completion.
  • Completing the game breaks the game. Further evidence that once begun, the game must neither be exited nor completed and it’s probably best to simply buy a new computer.
  • Returning to the main menu is quite the undertaking. But we’ve already established that players will neither quit nor complete the game, so what use is the main menu really?
  • New Game+ continues to stick to the shadows, but it can’t hide from us forever. Probably for a good long while though. We have heard that it is excellent at hiding.
  • Voice line volumes continue to be inconsistent. This problem, however, is not.
