What's Next for RIG Riot?

Hey folks, just wanted to get some thoughts out to you all about what you can expect next from RIG Riot. I'm not thinking of it as a roadmap per-se, but I figured you'd probably at least appreciate knowing where my head is at as far as the near future of the game.

Immediate Priorities

Firstly, most of my time is still going to bug fixes. I'm continuing to work on tracking down all the situations where things are appearing in the wrong place, like inside geometry and under the stage. I also still haven't been able to reproduce the settings crashes some people have reported. I'm guessing it's something related to being on a new profile but I just haven't been able to make it happen. If you have any additional details I'd love to hear it, and I will keep trying myself. There are of course other bugs and weird behaviors I'm working to resolve as well.

Short Term Plans

Next up in the short term is addressing some of the criticisms I've seen in reviews. From what I can tell, the key points are:

  1. Objective Variety
  2. Difficulty/Balance
  3. Inventory Quality of Life/Information Presentation/General Menu & UI things

I plan to begin addressing these when I'm satisfied that bugs are, at least for the most part, sufficiently squashed. I anticipate that being in the next week or so, but obviously software can be unpredictable. Mostly I just wanted you all to be aware that these things are on my radar, even if I don't respond to every review or post. Additionally, feel free to let me know if you think I'm missing anything major, especially on the short term end of things. I'm doing my best to read and consider everything but also trying to spend most of my time fixing things. Unfortunately they don't give game devs longer days, who knew?

Long Term Plans

I also wanted to mention that RIG Riot has done well enough that I think I can justify going full time! This means more opportunity for me to look into further, more ambitious updates. This includes things like investigating co-op (no guarantee it'll happen but I will look into it), localizing the game into other languages, and other potential content updates like new game modes and steam workshop support.

Closing Thoughts

Thank you all so much for supporting RIG Riot, this game means so much to me and I'm thrilled that so many of you are having fun with it. I'm over the moon about all the positive reviews, and I even think most of the negative reviews are fair and make very valid points that I hope to address.

Speaking of, if you haven't reviewed the game yet, I would love it if you did. It really helps folks to understand what they can expect from the game, and it also helps me a lot.

Thanks so much for playing and enjoying my weird little game. I'm still learning a lot and figuring this game dev thing out, but seeing you all have fun with the game makes it all feel worthwhile.

See you in the megastructure
