The Endless Hunt Is Here! + Core Game Updates

SUMMARY OF UPDATE:

There’s a LOT in this update, so here’s the short version:

  • NSFW Cinematic Mode is here! adding automatic cinematic camera sequences to Tamer's adult scenes while still letting you take manual control whenever you want.
  • Deep Jungle: Endless Hunt is here! A new endlessly replayable, roguelite-inspired combat mode where you fight escalating dinosaur waves, collect randomized boons, build ridiculous combinations, and see how long you can survive.
  • This is only Version 1 of Endless Hunt. Persistent progression, records, currency, more boons, additional traps and machines, seasonal content, and unlockable skin rewards are already in development. Please give us feedback!
  • The Milky Momma Costume Pack is FREE for Galmine, Sheela, Trel, and Kacerie. Yes, all four. Yes. Free. Yes, we love you.
  • Save-game reliability has been overhauled, and Chapter Select is now freely accessible without requiring you to unlock chapters first.
  • Next up: September brings more fixes and Endless Hunt improvements, followed by a detailed preview of the massive October update featuring cooking, taming, construction, new quests, new enemies, more free skins, and major improvements to the existing Block 1 story experience.

Basically: more dinosaurs, better combat, infinite hunting, free costumes, cinematic bonking, and a whole lot more Tamer on the way.

BUT, you should do yourself a favor and read the whole thing!

DETAILED UPDATE:

HANDS OFF NSFW CINEMATIC MODE

Before jumping into the The Deep Jungle Endless Hunt, our next update is introducing another major feature: the NSFW Cinematic Mode!  You’ve asked, we’ve delivered.

Sometimes you don't want to manage cameras and controls, you just want to sit back and enjoy the show. NSFW Cinematic Mode lets you experience Tamer's adult scenes completely hands-free.

Every position now has a collection of carefully selected cinematic cameras that automatically transition between shots as the scene progresses, giving everything a much more polished, cinematic presentation.

The system handles the camera progression throughout the scene, including orgasm sequences.

Best of all you can take over at any time and return to the classic gooner HQ-style camera controls.

The result looks fantastic, and we're incredibly excited for everyone to experience NSFW Cinematic Mode for themselves.

WELCOME TO THE DEEP JUNGLE ENDLESS HUNT

Get ready for an insane, over-the-top roguelite-inspired combat mode built around one simple idea: throw Victor and Sheela into an environment that represents the apex of danger in Dinosaurland, surround them with increasingly deadly enemies, and see how long they can survive.

Endless Hunt is an awesome game mode that gives you something to jump into between our releases, or when you want a break from the story, or if you want to continue playing the game after you’ve beaten the story (when we release the full game in 2027). This effectively changes Tamer: King of Dinosaurs into a game that we expect to have 20+ hour story mode to a game that you can play for an unlimited amount of hours. We also wanted a place in Early Access where we could introduce new enemies, experiment with combat mechanics, test new systems, and let you experience those improvements immediately instead of waiting for the next story update.

Think of Endless Hunt as Tamer’s combat playground. It’s something we plan to continually expand throughout Early Access alongside the main game. That means eventually adding progression, unlockable costumes, new mutations, new enemies, new mechanics, free seasonal content, and much more.

This August release is only the beginning.

The Deep Jungle is unlike anything you’ve seen in Tamer so far.

Sunk inside a massive crater in the southwest of the map, the Deep Jungle is one of the most dangerous and biodiverse places in Tamer’s world. An enormous canopy blocks much of the sunlight, creating a dark, ominous ecosystem filled with deadly dinosaurs, dangerous plant life, and creatures rarely encountered elsewhere.

The Deep Jungle will eventually appear as part of Tamer’s main story in Block 2, where it plays an important role in the culmination of Sheela’s romance arc and one of our favorite sequences we’ve created for the game so far.

Descend into the darkness.

Kill as many dinosaurs as you possibly can.

Use “boon” rewards to build something completely broken to keep fighting.

And when the jungle finally overwhelms you?

Start another run.

A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SIDE OF TAMER

We intentionally allowed Endless Hunt to become a little crazier than the main story game.

Some of the mechanics we develop here will eventually become part of Tamer’s core experience. Others might remain exclusive to Endless Hunt because they’re simply too ridiculous for the main story.

The atmosphere reflects that philosophy too.

The dark Deep Jungle environment combined with huge scale dinosaur battles gives the mode a completely different visual identity, and we’ve paired it with an awesome operatic metal soundtrack that sounds unlike anything else currently in Tamer while still feeling like it belongs in the same world.

We wanted Endless Hunt to feel dangerous, aggressive, chaotic, ridiculous, and fun and we’re extremely happy with how that combination has turned out.

HOW ENDLESS HUNT WORKS

The current version of Endless Hunt is built around an escalating survival loop.

Wave after wave of dinosaurs attack you. Survive, and you’ll gradually acquire new boons that allow you to create increasingly powerful builds.

However, beware - the dinosaurs will get stronger too.

Enemy waves can mutate at certain points, giving the dinosaurs additional power and turning creatures that might normally be manageable into much more dangerous threats. As the run continues, you’ll encounter different and increasingly chaotic wave configurations, elite enemies, and bosses.

Getting overwhelmed is inevitable, but the real question is how far you can make it before that happens.

BUILD YOUR CHARACTER WITH YOUR LOVERS

Between sections of the hunt, you’ll be teleported to a safe area in the cliffs where Sheela, Galmine, Trel, and Kacerie are waiting for you.

Each girl specializes in her own category of boons based around her personality and role within the tribe.

  • Sheela provides weapons and offensive options.
  • Galmine specializes in healing and survival.
  • Trel makes constructs that provide both offense (traps) and buffs (machines) that you hold in your inventory and can pick when to use.
  • Kacerie specializes in tools that help you manage the logistics of surviving increasingly dangerous waves.

The boons available to you are randomized, meaning you’ll have to adapt your build based on what appears during each run. Combine the right upgrades and you can create some extremely powerful builds. As of this first build, we only have a few for each lover, but we’ll be expanding on the selection in the next few months after we get your feedback.

NEW DINOSAURS AND ELITE ENEMIES

The Endless Hunt also introduces new enemy archetypes.

The Velociraptor is a smaller and much weaker relative of the Deinonychus. Individually, they’re easy to kill. In large numbers, however, they can quickly swarm and overwhelm you.

The Dilophosaurus is something completely different.

It introduces the first true ranged dinosaur enemy in Tamer (a nod to Michael Crichton), attacking you from a distance with acid spit while other dinosaurs close in. That means positioning and target prioritization suddenly become much more important when a Dilophosaurus enters the fight.

We’re also introducing elite-tier enemies.

Similar to elite enemies you might encounter in games like Diablo, these are visually distinct versions of normal dinosaurs with increased health, damage, aggression, and overall danger. Elite dinosaurs aren’t staying exclusive to Endless Hunt, either. They’ll eventually appear throughout the main game, including as targets in Sheela’s upcoming hunting quests.

The Pachycephalosaurus is a horse-sized dino who will attempt to run over Victor with its armored skull.

The Europelta is an armored dinosaur who can trample and stun Victor.

IMPROVED COMBAT SYSTEM & MAIN GAME IMPACT

One of the most important reasons we created Endless Hunt was to give ourselves a place where we could rapidly improve Tamer’s combat and immediately put those improvements in front of players.

We’ve revamped how health information is displayed, added critical hits and the ability to build around critical-hit chance, tuned dodging and blocking, and massively upgraded the enemy spawning system.

That new spawning technology is particularly important because it isn’t just an Endless Hunt feature. It allows us to create much more interesting encounters and enemy interactions throughout Tamer’s overworld. You’ll begin seeing the results of that work in the main game as we release our upcoming content updates.

We’ve also significantly improved the stagger state’s visuals.

Previously, staggered dinosaurs could look too static while incapacitated. Dinosaurs now react properly to incoming hits while staggered, making attacks feel considerably more responsive and impactful.

We aren’t anywhere close to being done tweaking combat, but players will notice a huge improvement in this patch.

NOW WITH TRAPS!

Another major addition in this update is the introduction of Trel’s traps (offensive) and machines (buffs Victor and Sheela).

Traps and machines add another tactical layer to Endless Hunt and eventually, traps and machines will also become part of Endless Hunt’s persistent progression. You’ll be able to accumulate them between runs and decide how you want to use your stockpile.

Maybe you want to jump in for a casual farming run and save your best traps and machines.

Or maybe you’ve accumulated twenty traps and your favorite machines, the boons line up perfectly for your favorite build in the first few rounds, and you decide that THIS IS THE RUN TO TEST YOUR LIMITS.

Burn everything you’ve got saved and see how far you can get.

That distinction between casual runs, farming runs, experimental builds, and serious attempts at pushing your record is something we want to expand considerably as Endless Hunt develops.

FEEDBACK WANTED

We want to be very clear about what you’re playing on August 28: this is the first playable version of Deep Jungle Endless Hunt, NOT the finished mode.

Most of the fundamental gameplay loop is now functioning, but there’s a lot more we want to build.

Wave balance and configuration still need additional work. Because of the current randomization, some runs can become considerably easier or harder than others. Endless Hunt is supposed to get crazy, wacky, and over-the-top, but we’ll continue tuning the balance as we collect data and feedback.

We also plan to expand dinosaur mutations.

One feature currently in development will make mutations much more visually obvious. When a mutation activates, an ominous spotlight will illuminate the arena and project the mutation’s symbol onto the ground throughout the wave.

Think of it as an evil disco ball announcing that everything is about to get worse.

A significant amount of the current UI is also placeholder and will be upgraded as development continues.

We have a bunch more boons we want to add for Sheela, Galmine, and Kacerie, along with more traps and machines for Trel.

Most importantly, the August version does not yet have persistent progression. Your scores, currency, traps, and other progression will not currently carry between runs.

That system is already being worked on.

Persistent Progression, Rewards & Free Costumes

Our longer-term vision is to turn Endless Hunt into a much deeper roguelite experience with persistent progression and rewards.

Yes, there will be rewards!

Today, we’re previewing some of the costumes planned for Endless Hunt that will arrive in a future patch, and we think they’re some of the best skins we’ve created for Tamer yet.

Note that these are NOT paid DLC, they’re free unlockable outfits players will earn once they complete specific wave goals, with the idea that the best players will have bragging rights around getting the hardest to get costumes.

Play Endless Hunt, push deeper into your runs, earn rewards, and unlock new outfits for the girls.

Eventually, we also want Endless Hunt to feature seasonal content with new cosmetics and other rewards to chase as the game continues through Early Access.

MILKY MOMMA COSTUME PACK

Speaking of free costumes...

Meet the Milk Mommies.

Galmine, Sheela, Trel, and Kacerie are all getting a new cow-print costume, and these outfits will be added to Tamer completely free.

Yes, all four of them.

We think these are super hot, and they are part of our continued effort to add more fun cosmetic content to the game throughout Early Access without putting everything behind paid DLC.

Please enjoy the Milky Momma outfits!

GENERAL GAME IMPROVEMENTS

The August 28 patch isn’t only the Endless Hunt addition.

We’ve also overhauled Tamer’s save-game system to make it significantly more reliable and reduce the possibility of save-related problems.

Alongside that overhaul, we’ve changed how the Chapter Select system works.

Instead of requiring you to progress through the game before chapters become available, Chapter Select is now freely accessible. If you want to revisit a particular section of Tamer, you can simply jump into it.

We want you to be able to experience the content you want, when you want, without worrying about losing progress or maintaining a specific save file.

We’ve also made improvements to input configuration and other systems throughout the game.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

During September, our primary development focus will be the enormous overhaul of the existing game planned for the end of October. We’re also planning a smaller September patch containing additional general improvements and further work on Endless Hunt.

More importantly, toward the end of September we plan to release a detailed video showing you exactly what we’ve been building.

That includes the following:

  • Cooking
  • Taming
  • Construction
  • More combat improvements
  • New enemies
  • New free skins inside hidden treasure chests
  • New side-quest systems like Sheela’s hunts & Galmine’s ingredient foraging
  • …and much more.

For now, enjoy the new Endless Hunt and next month we’ll be back with even more updates for Tamer!
