Hackhub 1.3.11 Patch Notes
A smaller update. The Online World now asks you to accept its rules before you play, GoMail's trash can restore a mail or delete it for good, and several stuck quests and save problems are closed.
New
- Added an Online World rules screen. You read the rules to the end and accept them before the desktop opens. Decline sends you back to the menu.
- The same text is in the Handbook, under Online World. When the rules change in a way that matters, you are asked to accept them again.
- Added restore and delete forever to the GoMail trash, and an Empty trash button for the whole folder.
- Delete forever only works from the trash, so a misclick in the inbox cannot remove a mail. A purged mail stays in the save so a quest can still find it.
- Added a mod dev mode. Start the game with --mod-dev, or set HACKHUB_MOD_DEV=1, and a rebuilt local mod reloads into the save you were testing.
Change
- Images and video on a site you host in the Online World now have to come from a public host. A picture hosted on a server you run no longer loads.
- Imgur, ImgBB, Postimages, Discord, GitHub, Unsplash, Pexels, Wikimedia, picsum, placeholder services, Giphy, Tenor and Steam still work. Link tags that only warm a connection, such as preconnect, are removed.
- Firebear tabs for a page served over the simulated web now use that page's title, and the icon the host published.
- The code editor now follows writes to an open file from outside it, such as the terminal. Unsaved edits in that tab are kept. Deleting the file closes a clean tab, and turns a tab with unsaved edits into an untitled buffer.
- decode now picks the encrypted package when several share a file. It says when the file is already decrypted, and when you no longer hold that loot.
- A mail that reaches the Cyber Justice target with the wrong file, or the right file for the wrong person, now gets a reply instead of silence.
Fixes
- Fixed an issue that caused switching GoMail account to keep listing the previous account's mail, so the new inbox looked like the switch had never happened.
- Fixed an issue that caused a GoMail sign-in to fail when the address was pasted with a space or different capitalisation, which dropped you back into your own inbox.
- Fixed an issue that caused mail sent to a quest mailbox, such as the bank manager in The Journalist's Sister Part 8, to bounce as user unknown.
- Fixed an issue that caused a phishing mail in Cyber Justice and in Cryptographer Hunt to get no reply when the address differed only by capitalisation or a trailing space.
- Fixed an issue in The Journalist's Sister Part 11 that left the quest stuck on the port 22 step when that forward was already saved, with the port open and nothing left to do.
- Already stuck saves complete the step on load.
- Fixed an issue that caused a router forward with the Local IP left blank to show in nmap as an open port with blank columns, so every exploit against it was refused. This blocked The Journalist's Sister Part 11 and Cyber Justice where the forward was saved that way.
- Fixed an issue that caused loot taken again after a node restocked to share one file with the earlier package, so selling or deleting one wrote the file back for the other.
- Fixed an issue that caused a cloud import, or a restored backup, to be overwritten by the save that was already running, so the sync prompt returned on every launch and the restore did not stick.
- An imported cloud save is stamped with the time the cloud index already claimed, so it no longer comes back as older than the cloud.
- Fixed the connection error for a banned Online World account so it states the ban, the reason, and when it ends if it is not permanent.
- Fixed an issue that caused a crash inside a mod to show as an anonymous error. The crash screen names the mod and the line in its mod.js.
- Fixed the main menu pushing the play column into the news panel on a narrow or high-DPI window. The side panels move underneath instead.
- Fixed the clock panel staying open over the time-skip curtain after Wait.
- Fixed quitting on macOS leaving the game in the Dock after it finished saving.
