v1.1.0 Update: Treasure Effects Complete, All 29 Treasures Now Do Something

Hello, Captains,

First, an apology. At launch, the game's design made some of its systems hard to discover, and there was plenty of friction along the way. Over the past weeks we have gone through your feedback one by one and improved the experience version by version. Thank you for sticking with us, and for giving the game another try.

Here is what changed in this update:

Treasure Effects Complete

The treasure effects we have been adding since v1.0.3 are now complete: every one of the 29 treasures (except the story item) has its own effect, active as soon as it is on board, with nothing extra to do. Each effect is described in your inventory, and the departure panel, card table, shipyard, Exchange and other screens show icons for the relevant treasures. Hover over them for details.

New in v1.1.0

  • Treasure effects, batch four (the last batch):
  • Phoenix Feather: hull durability drains half as fast while sailing.
  • Golden Fleece: shipyard refits cost only 70% of the usual price.
  • Branch of Wisdom: buyers abroad pay for your specialties as if they had come from a longer voyage.
  • Goddess Crown: companions gain 1 extra point each time their favor rises.
  • Key of Death: closing in on a sea monster always reveals a shipwreck with doubled gold; sea monsters are more common.

Treasure hints:

with the matching treasure on board, the durability cost on the departure panel and refit prices at the shipyard turn green. Hover to see the breakdown.

Treasure icons:

icons now also appear in the Exchange sell list, the sea monster event panel and the favor popup. Hover for details.

Bug Fixes

  • On the New Game+ treasure screen, moving a treasure to the right no longer leaves a greyed-out locked duplicate on the left.

What We Have Fixed Since Launch

A quick recap of the five updates from v1.0.1 to now:

  • Freezes and black screens: the black screen after sinking, the missing city menu after loading a save post-ending, and fog events that never appeared.
  • Gold and double charges: pirate events settling twice, rapid clicks double-charging at the shipyard, upgrades, expeditions, the Exchange and the sea chart, gold above 2.1 billion showing as negative (the leaderboard moved to a new board), and Blackjack all-ins overcharging.
  • Gameplay and quality of life: manual save / load in port, hiding the dialogue box, Elena's auto-repair, Elena's favor cap and ending requirement, Layla's market tips reworked, the tavern market board no longer empty, the gallery, the Update Notes button on the title screen, and a higher New Game+ treasure limit.
  • English build: translation and layout fixes on the ending summary, Save / Load amounts, the New Game+ screen, treasure hints and more.

Full details for every version are under the Update Notes button on the title screen.

About Your Saves

Existing saves carry over, so there is no need to start again. Treasures you have already dug up get their effects as soon as you load.

Steam should update the game automatically; if it doesn't, restarting Steam usually does the trick.

If you run into any problems, please post in the Steam Community and we will respond as soon as possible.
