Enchanting Table and New Display Stands - v0.19.5

Patch Notes

Hey shopkeepers! This update adds an enchanting table to the back room of your shop: once you've unlocked the right skill, you can enchant your rare and above goods with your own hands. Alongside it come a new skill branch, a redrawn skill screen, two new display stands and the shop's most impressive decoration piece.

In Short

  • An enchanting table has been added to the back room: rare and above weapons/armor can be enchanted
  • New skill branch: Blacksmithing (4 steps, 10 SP)
  • The Cleanliness branch has been reordered, Flying Broom now sits at the end of it
  • The skill interface and its icons have been redrawn from scratch
  • Two new display stands and a 50-point decoration: Magic Planetarium
  • While setting a price, you can now see what percentage of customers can afford that item

⚒️ The Enchanting Table

Rare and above weapons and armor you place on the table in the back room can now be enchanted. You don't pick the tier, it's a single button and the result is instant.

  • Cost: 10% of the item's purchase price, minimum 10 gold. The fee is spent on every attempt.
  • One roll, three outcomes: 30% it holds, 60% the item burns, 10% the item stays exactly as it was.
  • If it holds, the tier comes down to chance: 50% / 30% / 20%.

Every tier moves the item up one grade (rare → epic, epic → legendary) and gives it a particle effect unique to that tier. The effect is visible on the shelf, in your hands and in the customer's hands.

Example: Iron Dagger (132 gold, rare) → Iron Dagger of the Pale Mist (464 gold, epic). The attempt costs 11 gold.

  • There are 105 enchanted variants in total across 35 base items. Enchanted items aren't sold in the market, the only way to get them is to make them at the table.
  • The expected value is slightly negative (~10%). Think of it as gambling: a risky way to turn a quality item into an even better one.
  • The high end of enchanted gear is expensive. To actually sell at those prices, your shop's decoration needs to be carrying your customers' wallets.

🌿 New Skill Branch: Blacksmithing

The enchanting table can't be used until this branch is unlocked. Four steps, 10 SP in total, unlocked in order.

  • Blacksmith access (2 SP) — Unlocks the enchanting table, only rare base items can be enchanted.
  • Epic enchanting (2 SP) — Epic base items can be enchanted as well.
  • Legendary enchanting (3 SP) — Legendary base items can be enchanted as well.
  • Mastery (3 SP) — The chance of an enchantment holding goes up by 5 points (30% → 35%).

🧹 The Cleanliness Branch Has Been Reordered

Flying Broom is now the fourth node of the branch and requires Cleanliness III.

  • Cleanliness I (1 SP) — Dirt buildup is reduced by 40%.
  • Cleanliness II (1 SP) — Dirt buildup is reduced by 60%.
  • Cleanliness III (2 SP) — Dirt buildup is reduced by 80%. Dirt never stops entirely, this is the floor.
  • Flying Broom (3 SP) — The magic broom flies to the dirt on the floor and cleans it by itself, no more sweeping by hand.

If you unlocked Flying Broom without Cleanliness III on an older save, it won't be taken away. The requirement is only checked on new purchases.

Skill Interface

The skill screen and all of its icons have been redrawn from scratch. Each branch now tells you what it does at a glance.

🏗️ New Build Items

Rotating Display Pedestal — 385 gold A single-item pedestal that accepts any product regardless of size, and the item on display rotates on its own axis. Sales made from this stand put 3% extra in the register. Decoration value is 4 points, up to 5 of them are counted.

Glass Showcase — 470 gold A single-item glass showcase, again accepting any size. Sales made from this stand put 5% extra in the register. Decoration value is 8 points, up to 5 of them are counted. The register bonus only increases the money you end up with. The customer's decision to buy, their wallet check and their "this is too expensive" reaction still run on the price tag exactly as before.

Magic Planetarium — 3100 gold The most valuable decoration piece in the shop: 50 decoration points, only 1 of them is counted. It noticeably raises customer wallets and your reputation ceiling. This is the shortest path to selling the high end of your enchanted gear.

Changes and Improvements

  • The effect decoration has on customer money is now visible. While setting a price, you can see what percentage of customers can afford that item. The system was working all along, we just never explained it well, we admit it.

Keep the reports coming, we read all of them. Now back to the table!
