Physics Update and Community Note

Ossu!

We’ve got some nifty updates for you today, however before we dive into the details we wanted to say a few words.

Thank you folks for staying with us and continuing to play the game! As a small, around 30 people strong studio, we truly appreciate your ongoing support and your patience for the changes to roll out! We’re working as fast as we can but we will never be able to compete with upcoming content on the same level as some of the AAA games that you came to love. We can only promise that we’re giving everything that we have for JDM and we hope to continue seeing you on Guntama roads in the months and years ahead.

We know we have been less vocal recently but that doesn't mean that we are not constantly looking into your feedback and reading your requests. We know you want more JDM cars, we know you want some physics changes, we know you want liveries and better steering wheel support. That’s our mutual desire. JDM has been, is, and will be first and foremost a passion project for us that we want to continue evolving and pushing forward.

We’ve just released multiplayer for consoles and we’re finishing up our work on the liveries system - the two biggest features we had planned for JDM for this year. In the near future we have some surprises lined up for you that we haven’t even teased yet (and we won’t do it today), but believe us when we say that there’s some exciting news on the horizon.

For now we’re slowly looking into fixing some long standing bugs and trying to improve the game in areas we feel need most love at the moment. Not all changes will directly be felt by you but they are happening and improving the project with every update.

Once again, thank you for being with us! And now, let’s look into today’s change list (coming to all platforms simultaneously).

Patch Notes

GAME PHYSICS

  • We’ve dived a little deeper into the game’s physics. The changes today are meant to improve the overall feeling of the car in-game. They are specifically aimed at enhancing the work of the suspension. We’ve improved how the force is applied to a wheel in a skid and how it translates to the suspension, correcting the reaction times for turning and recovering grip. We’ve looked into suspension rebound speeds that will help with driving on uneven surfaces. We’ve improved how the car behaves when doing small wheel corrections, especially in cars with heavy rears. All these changes should result in a more immersive experience while driving, improving the car’s handling. The changes will be felt on all devices but will be most beneficial for players’ using steering wheels.
  • We’ve also brought back tire pressure settings in the Car Tuning Workshop. Sorry for the recent mess-up with this!

MULTIPLAYER

  • Fixed an issue where in some instances the percentage of track completion shown on screen for other players would randomly change between a percentage value and ‘completed’.
  • Fixed an issue with the summary screen after an event which would not properly display nicknames over 10 symbols long.
  • Fixed an issue where a pop-up warning would not display for players when trying to leave a race in progress.
  • Fixed an issue where the voting screen after a race would appear even when a few players were still racing towards the finish line.
  • Fixed issues with navigating through event creation menus when using a gamepad.
  • Fixed minor UI issues for multiplayer events - displaying single player information on the point of interest, showing incorrect type of event, localization error issues, etc.

CARS

  • Fixed an issue with a misplaced right mirror in the Roebuck Jetstream.
  • Fixed an issue where the changing car stats would not update in the career screen when using Nissan 180SX Type R.
  • Fixed collision issues on the front of the Ironvale Hauler F84 - the font of the car will no longer go through other objects in the game.
  • Fixed minor body kit issues when using the Akina Phantom.
  • Fixed the inverted headlights for the Nissan Z33.
  • Fixed the missing seats issue when using the FSO Polonez.

See you all on Guntama roads and remember to swing by our official Discord channel to say hi!
