GAME FEEL 2.0
A major focus of development has been improving overall game feel for ORION: Prelude.
The original had a few areas of frustration that I wanted to fix and together these changes add up to improved controls, snappier moment-to-moment gameplay and a game that simply feels better to play.
Here's a look at just some of them...

CROSSHAIRS
The one thing you subconsciously look at the entire game.
ORIGINAL
- Static, never moved or animated.

EXPERIMENTAL
- Dynamic crosshair that moves with you.
- Signals your current state: idle, crouch, ADS, sprint and jump.
- Reacts when you fire.

HIPFIRE
What you spend a lot of your time doing as you mow down hordes of Dinos.
ORIGINAL
- Entirely random: even the first bullet could land anywhere within the weapon's spread.

EXPERIMENTAL
- The first bullet is perfectly accurate.
- Spread blooms from there according to each weapon's identity.
- The result is more confident, tactical shooting across the whole arsenal.

INPUT
The way you interface with the world; constantly.
ORIGINAL
Inputs would drop, for example:
- Sprinting off a ledge cancelled your sprint on landing until you released and re-pressed it.
- Landing from a jetpack while holding sprint required the same release and re-press.
- And many more cases like these.

EXPERIMENTAL
Inputs are retained.
- Sprint off a ledge while holding sprint and you'll keep sprinting when you land.
- Hold sprint while falling from a jetpack and you'll land already sprinting.

RELOADS
The only way to get more bullets; used often.
ORIGINAL
- Reloads were cancelled by many actions, including melee attacks and rolling.

EXPERIMENTAL
- Reloads now continue in the background through melee attacks, rolling and more.

TURRETS
A player's best friend.
ORIGINAL
- Turrets could only be placed on terrain.

EXPERIMENTAL
- Turrets can be placed in many more places, including terrain, bases and rocks.

MENUS
Now with transparency to make adjustments easier.
ORIGINAL
- Changing FOV was done blind behind an opaque menu.

EXPERIMENTAL
- The Settings menu is now transparent, so you can see changes like FOV in real time.

DAMAGE NUMBERS
A cleaner, more readable approach.
ORIGINAL
- Numbers burst out like an exploding piñata.
- Added too much visual chaos.

EXPERIMENTAL
- Numbers appear formed and fade out.
- Easy to read at a glance.

POLISH
Integrated across the project as often as it came up during development.
ORIGINAL
- Some weapon handling had rough edges. For example, when equipping the CV-10, the weapon would lag behind the hands in first person.

EXPERIMENTAL
- Fixes like this have been made throughout, improving overall fidelity and quality. The CV-10 equip now plays out smoothly.

These are just some of the changes.
You'll feel the rest when you get your hands on it.
