About this game

The developer's description, from the game's Steam store page.

Everyone said the case was closed. Everyone except the victims’ families.

All 227 people affiliated with the Church of the Nine-Tentacled Octopus drowned during one of its religious rituals. A year after the case was closed, the victims’ families insist the investigation reached the wrong conclusion—and demand that the case be reopened.

As a religious studies researcher at a government agency, reexamine the Church’s doctrines and rituals, along with the records left by those connected to the case.

Investigate the Followers’ Hidden Community

Explore a website filled with octopus masks, bizarre commandments, and ridiculous events—and uncover a members-only community hidden within it.

Even throwaway jokes and petty complaints may contain clues. Piece together scattered posts and records to identify the key figures at the heart of the case.

Spot the Clues. Search the Terms. Uncover the Truth.

Important clues are not highlighted in this game. Search for any unfamiliar or suspicious word you come across—or even the takoyaki you had as a snack earlier!

A single search term can reveal a new post—and bring you one step closer to the truth.
